Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm just wondering if we can pair a ASUS AC router with a Huawei WS151 AC wireless adapter?

Or vice versa?

Huawei WS880 AC router with a ASUS AC wireless adapter?

Thx

The Asus router makes more sense to me. All the ISP easy to configure.

Oh let me know the steps. I am on 8.1

Let windows 8 auto install the drivers, do not install the drivers from edimax website, windows 8 built in will have problem, intermittent disconnection issue will arise when you try to connect to Wi-Fi network. Edimax website for the adapter, only 1 region have the updated one for the Windows 8.1. You can download it from here http://www.edimax.us/download/drivers/Win81/EW-7822UAC_1.0.1.6.zip

Note the 1.0.1.6 version, the other website is only 1.0.1.4. Update through device manager manual update and you're good to go!

how come everyone is recommending Linksys adapter? is it better than the likes of asus and tp link?

Sorry for the late reply...

I have a couple of adapters if you are interested.

1 Linksys AE3000
2 Asus Usb-AC53 (usb2)
3 Asus Usb-AC56 (usb3)

That aside you need to understand that the adapter itself is not going to give you product specific speeds. The router end must support it and be configured optimally as well.

i suspect i broke my laptop wireless adapter, accidentally dropped my laptop the other day. my laptop wireless cant connect to the internet, this has never happened before, now i can only manage 5 mins of connection and the internet will be cut off.

should i go ahead with the repair (was quoted about $100), or should i get a wireless adaptor instead? my asus laptop is about 3 years old, getting a bit cranky lately, maybe not worthwhile to repair the wireless adapter. im using a 2wire modem from singtel, 10mbps broadband. my laptop is just 2 metres away from the modem, no wall separating in between.

pls kindly advise, thanks!!

Coming PC show 2014, may be u want to get a ASUS T100TA laptop. Cheap cheap but quite ok. Windows 8.1 and SSD at $599 but can be cheaper.

Intel atom with 2gb ram and 30gb usable disk space, not exactly a typical laptop, more like a pc-wannabe tablet. ;)
