Probably put you in the same queue as civilians ? Haha no idea man... Or maybe my doc said that his patient was finding the pain slightly unbearable already.

Only time I saw the DO was for overseas FFI and ORD FFI, so all pre-booked for me by Bn or Coy clerk already. :s13:

They probably expect you not to 'waste' civilian resources when it is unnecessary la.

Whatever it is, ORD long ago already... Gotten my 4 x wisdom extraction. Saved a lot of money...
um, what I mentioned was based on most up to date experience.

eh doesn't make a diff lor. in the end also gahment money.

haha. i didn't get to enjoy the holiday and the free extraction. probably grow up too fast. it was extremely unbearable 2 years before enlistment.

Hi man, this is my advice to you. SAF MO are usually ****ed up. I know this from experience which I will tell u now.

I just orded a few months ago and all ord-personnel got dental FFI, medical FFI etc.

My wisdom tooth was hurting during that time so I went to polyclinic check. The doctor shine torchlight inside my mouth say can see my tooth got impacted ( grow until hit each other top and bottom I guess ). So he wrote a referral letter to National Dental Center and I got appointment.

Went for dental FFI a few days later at nee soon camp, we waited for 3-4hours, after the wait this medic clerk ( wear no 3 ) give us the already printed status paper ( when u report sick the paper will say u att b or c that kind but instead for FFI it will say dental: pass or fail ) the paper already write pass for all of us. WTF? havent see MO already pass, okay nvm I go in, the MO dentist tell me sit on the dentist chair check my mouth.

Shine touch light in 4second say okay done, u can leave. WTF? WHAT ABOUT MY WISDOM TOOTH!? Its okay for me since I already got appointment done without your knowledge but still its wtf. SAF don't even care.

After experiencing this, I will never trust SAF medical EVER again. Also there were FOUR wisdom tooth and NDC removed all. Also if you are under 21 like I was at that time, You need to bring a parent along to NDC. I did not during my trip, waste my time there. Parent need to approve the operation. Also, OPT for General instead of local after all GOV paying for it!

TL;DR : Go polyclinic and **** care SAF! If I was a goo niang and keep quiet nver go polyclinic ask for referral, i would have suffered the four wisdom tooth then somemore need pay out of my own pocket, double kill man.

lol. You suay. I went Dental FFI, the DO took sometime to check, not that I mind anyway can siam work longer. Checked quite detailed somemore to see got wisdom teeth or not but I said no more liao.

Anyway if want less pain best is do 4 at 1 go and do GA la. but if want more mc, do 1 at a time lor but only LA. U weren't told u need to bring parent along if under 21 meh? But like that also shiok ma where got waste time, free "mc" for that day.

Nope. You walk in directly to any SOC in KTPH will be a private patient, which means ur 11B is not accepted.

Want more information, call the hotline on KTPH website and verify.

You got referral and no appointment? and your Dental Officer's clerk told you that???

The usual "saying" is 5 days each if you pluck 1 at a time. But exact number ask the Dental surgeon

I think you should signal yourself out whether or not your wisdom tooth was painful anot.

They screen so many patients prior to ORD, and tbh, wisdom tooth is hard to detect unless you say it out. tbh wisdom tooth needs x-ray to further confirm.

whatsmore the dental officer probably is a fresh grad

nonetheless, i got a few months prior to ord, i also wanna withdraw my wisdom tooth whether it hurts or not.

Hello can I ask what's the rough waiting time from the time you see the camp's dental officer to get a referral and to the time you get the consultation? I'm ording in early sept but I'm scared there isn't enough time because my friend went for consultation early in may and his surgery dates were mid to late august.

If you are asking when will you know when's the consultation time, should be after the appointment when the clerk give you the consultation time.

If you wondering how far away the consultation will be, i guess it depends on the availability of the time slot the hospital can give right.

If you are smart, you would have just gone to get an appointment instead of asking here ask it wouldn't change anything

I recommend Dr Justin Saga of GPA Dental. You can google him for his website. He used to work in NZ for over 10 years before coming to Singapore. He's very good with wisdom teeth extraction. No pain during injection and extraction. Mine was all done within half an hour or less. My friends have been to see him for root canal treatment and dental implants as well. He's very good at what he does.

So his extraction covered under 11B?

Okay I don't really care whether I have pride or ego issues, or whether I have guilty conscience or not. I just want to get a free referral from polyclinic to a dental clinic and I hope someone can advice me whether I can do that or not.

There is no free referral from polyclinic. You need to pay consultation fees.
However the consultation fee should be payable by MINDEF since you are still a NSF.

Anyway I plucked mine at NUH by a senior specialist.

I split into two visits, each time plucking 2 (top and bottom molar) wisdom teeth. The visits was $600 each time, total $1200.

I made an appointment with dental MO, waiting period depends on which camp you are in. For mine, I waited for 1mth+.

After getting the referral letter, I choose NUH (apparently you can choose any government hospital). The appointment took another 1 month+

If you are splitting into 2 visits for 4 wisdom teeth, the second appointment will take another 2weeks to 1 month depending on the available slots.

Will recommend at least 3 to 6 months allowance because they may discover other problems along the way and you may not have enough time to do it.

For mine they discovered I had a slight decay all the way inside (right side) after plucking out the wisdom tooth). The senior specialist told me not enough time to help me treat the decay. But luckily I got an appointment with dental MO in time.

So everything settled in time before ORD.

I think SAF dental should be outsourced to external parties.

That few DO how to serve the whole army?

saf dental is more for dental ffi and urgent cases.

actually waiting for saf dental quite good already, the waiting time for poly dental is currently quite bad.

and the intake for dental students is quite small, i think around 50 annually.

so saf want to employ more dental officers also quite hard, need to compete with hospitals (both government and private), polyclinics, private clinics, and not to mention security clearance.
