WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start

Hi, over the past few days ive been googling about this and reformatting my pc for about 2-3 times already. Even tried a last resort to download the .dll and replace it but to no avail this causes my computer to hang randomly...

Under Event Viewer

WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start.

Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\Rtlihvs.dll
Error Code: 126


After copying the .dll file
WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start.

Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\Rtlihvs.dll
Error Code: 193

This is really aggreviating i cant find a possible fix for this and reformatting dosent solve it at all..

hav u already tried realtek wlan drivers? but u need to find out which one on ur own...

Thanks I searched that link but couldn't find anything linked to the dll's will try yours later.. (Currently reformatting again) just to be safe

Hi I tried your link there's no chip which is the same as mine I'm using a gigabyte X58A-UD7 mobo the chips on it are 2 x RTL8111D chip (10/100/1000 Mbit) can't seem to get the dll from any installers even windows help is no use.. I get bods and hangs just because this thing fails after a few try's... I went to bios factory defaults with my overclock and reformatted the pc still no help.. :/

confused, wat wireless adaptor r u using? WLAN = wireless LAN, dun think error is referring to ur gigabyte board's wired LAN i think...

TL-WN823N - Welcome to TP-LINK

Tp-link TL-WN823N so im kinda puzzled why it links to realtek.. i have installed drivers from their CD as well as latest one from their site and to no avail...

according to site, its using realtek chipset. u can try uninstalling tplink driver & software, then remove the usb adaptor to troubleshoot if random hang still occur 1st.

when u cfm its due to tp-link adaptor, try installing older driver only without utility. if still problem try realtek driver (see if can install without the utility).

oops, better to dl watever u need 1st before removing wireless driver/sw/adaptor to troubleshoot...

Thanks that worked no more event viewer errors but... ive been getting random disconnects on the wireless up to the point that it cant even detect anynearby wireless..
My laptop is beside me as i troubleshoot and it is still connected to the wifi and downloading stuff.. so maybe this usb is faulty as well?

This is the first time im encountering such issue with TP-LINK products i recently 1for1 exchanged this product as my older one broke due to human fault never had any issues pertaining this on that usb.

hmm, drops til even nearby wireless can't detect... i'm guessing only, but sounds like driver issue.

hav u tried all available newer/older tplink & realtek drivers, same result? also jus check around to see no remnant tplink utility service/process.

oh dunno if any incompat will cause similar problem... but if ur router using wpa/wpa2 mixed mode, try simplify to something like wpa2-aes instead.

yeah i did that as well to no avail... older drivers same issue and my router is configured to be WPA2 alr and its using Channel 9 instead of the usual 6 or 11 if that helps

how abt using the realtek utility? never seen or tried it tho.

assuming u tried everything (software-wise), guess u hav to replace the wireless adapter yet again...

btw wat exactly stopped the bsod & errors in event viewer - driver or utility change?

driver change stopped the bsods but it came with the realtek utility which is quite bad it keeps auto refreshing and its unconfigurable to a certain extent so i think i might RMA the usb stick again cos my SSD just died on me and ive no way to test it for now... sigh reinstall windows again hopefully the issue dies out. Thanks so much for your help also!

not sure if works, but found some suggestns abt disabling realtek wireless utility if required in future, networking - How to disable the realtek wireless lan utility - Super User
