Anyone at kr now? How is the rate at myeongdong? And do they accept $100 sgd notes?

Yes they accept $100 notes. I changed $1000 notes last week they didn't even double check the notes, just took it in, calculated and gave me my KR notes. Last seen was about 857 (not today).

In case anyone wants to stay at Myeongdong please PM me, I have an AirBNB studio apartment for rent. Can bring you to the famous moneychanger too =:p

Thank you for replying! Heard that the exchange rates in Korea might be fluctuating these few weeks such that it might be well-off to change in SG instead, is that true?

Do not change at Korea airport and other place, other than at Myeong Dong

If you first destination is not here then change at Singapore first

Korea exchange rates have always been fluctuating but I've not seen rates in SG better than Myeongdong, yet. Most of the rates in Myeongdong are similar due to competition(except those very small stalls, got lowballed once), only the one at Chinese embassy is slightly better. I've seen people running up and down comparing rates and probably spent at least an hour doing that. In the end, they changed less than $1000 :s22: The difference of KRW1000(about SGD1.20) is not significant and simply not worth the effort. They could've spent the time shopping or doing something more enjoyable during their holiday.

Not that I'm against looking for the best deal, but during holiday your time is precious. Why waste so much time and energy just to save SGD1.20? Can't even take a train ride in Seoul. Just compare a few moneychangers, make sure you're not getting chopped and get on with it.

For those looking for the Chinese embassy moneychanger:
Come out of Myeongdong Station(migliore exit) and walk straight. When you see Nature Republic(green building), make a left. Walk straight all the way until you see a carpark. Turn right and walk straight(30-40m?). The popular moneychanger will be on your left. There's usually a small queue so you won't miss it.

There's also a moneychanger at Itaewon giving pretty good rates. However, I've never gotten the chance to compare these 2 moneychangers because they don't publish their rates online. For those changing bigger amounts like more than SGD15,000 you can consider going to the banks. Can negotiate and bargain with the RM :s13: I changed $1000 at Bank A and brought the receipt to Bank B and bargained with the RM for the rest of the cash. Got quite a good deal ^^

I don't walk around just to change money

While shopping I come across several money changer so I will just ask as those are near to the hotel I staying and I will be around these area.

See which one is good and I will change there for several times without looking around again.

Why change at Singapore?

Myeong Dong exchange rate so much better and I never go find the highest which is the recommend one

Won't be flying to Seoul so soon. Also I'm betting US dollar will be weaker and KRW will be more expensive by the time I reach Seoul during July. At least that what I think ah. I might be wrong

I change my first batch of money in Singapore earlier at rate 867 and after that drop to 840 and now 858

Second batch money change in Korea 858
