daddy daddy I am now a meritocracy minister. I have avenged ur close win at Cheng San

I am your precious meritocracy son
Think recently saw an interesting mentioned of a book called 'the tyranny of merit'. Which exposes the flaws and fallacies of meritocratic philosophy. Think certain perspectives see, so called meritocracy creates more unfairness than fairness. :s22:

But not as many people joining oppo only...
Despite this, need to knock hard truths to pappy IBs. In last GE approximately 50% of voters in EC, WC, and Marine parade grc voted for oppo.

EC total 121k voters
Marine parade total 140k voters
West coast 146k voters

Approximately 200k voters total in these 3 grc voted oppo

Actually I would consider WP's GE2020 result in MP GRC rather impressive. For except Yee JJ, all the rest are newbies without impressive CVs. And up against heavy weight TCJ, ET, TSL (also a newbie but with impressive CV), etc.

The 'crap' had voted against GST increase, voted against 6.9m population white paper, voted against 'Elected' President amendment..
Think if can see the big picture, crap or not, only when get inside then can vote on and thus challenge the undesirable decisions.

Its their votes that count, doesn't matter who or what they are, as long as they can be inside to make their vote count.

Thus to influence the decision making, the strength in numbers is more important. If not, if don't have enough strength to veto, talk what talk also can become crap talk up there. Cause doesn't influence the decision making, only the votes inside can do so. :s22:

WP is good but this RK debacle has shown how full of crap they are.
I agree WP had picked the wrong candidate.. But it takes time to know one's true character, 路遥知马力,日久见人心。

Hopefully WP will be more careful after RK debacle.

Interesting understanding of what opposition is meant to do:

"make noise"...wow!

during the 36 months of covid, I haven't heard even the slightest peep from these
fellows in blue shirts...I take this to mean that they are in full agreement with
everything. And they would do everything exactly the same.
How about this?

https://theindependent.sg/pritam-si...e-at-the-centre-of-foreign-manpower-policies/
..Mr Singh had two supplementary questions for Dr Tan; the first was on the previous Parliament debate on the motion on securing Singaporeans’ jobs and livelihoods and the foreign talent policy.

“The Workers’ Party raised several alternative proposals to alleviate the concerns of Singaporeans at the workplace and to ensure that the local-foreign employment divide does not become a permanent fault line.”
With the introduction of the One Pass and several changes to the employment pass framework, “how does the ministry intend to promote and track the transfer of skills to Singaporeans by employment pass holders such as the One pass?” he asked.

“Has the minister ruled out fixed-term employment passes or other schemes that incentivise such skills transfer to Singaporeans to address skills-related underemployment amongst other things?” he added.

This sounds like two politicians talking to each other....I would like to see these questions use the actual language that people think in. This kind of political playacting is often done to give the illusion that someone is
opposing. I expect a lot more incisive dialogue with specifics.
Depends on whether you prefer oppositions who oppose for sake of opposing, or for checks and balances..
