How much should i have ideally saved after joining the workforce? Understand that everybody earns diff amts etc etc but yeah.

Every month how much do you save? 50%?

late 20s. saving/investing about 70%, 10% for my parents and 20% for expenditure and loan. Am still fortunate to a certain extent.

used to save only about 20% but i felt it wasn't enough. put in habits to slowly cut back and save more. 70% is still comfortable and don't think it will go up anytime soon with what i am getting now

Coming to 30. Used to save 50%, but reduce to around 10% - 20% now. Juggling between wedding loans, renovation loans and etc.

Squirrel an amount every month regardless of how small or big the amount. Ensure there's no withdrawal function for this account. The only way is up.

10 days gap in changing job in 2013.

60 days gap in changing job in 2014.

Paid for wedding. No debt. No HDB/Condo/Property :(

Cash ... ~60k in saving account. 10k in SRS. Do your maths.

Male. Going to be 31 shortly.

after owning my own house i only manage to save abt 20%.. (utility, conservancy, broadband, property tax all ownself pay lol)..

wan to effectively save.. just follow the basic rule of opening two bank account.. save before u spend... set aside ur spend amt into the other bank account.. limit to spending within there.. left over throw into savings.. nxt mth repeat..

Yep and as seen by posts after mine, it is actually achievable because i do not have commitments yet. But when the time comes that i need to pay mortgage loan etc, it will definitely reduce. So why not make the best use of it now by saving as much as i can? :)

Cheers

In my late 20s, single, saving rate 65% - 70%.
Started work in Jan 2012 but I worked like a dog in sales line and freelance on some weekends.
Managed to save up $100k, because totally no time to spend the money.

Now downgrade to non-sales job with 50% paycut, but still maintained 65% savings rate.
hogrider88's tactic is good, Im using it myself.

Really happy to see so many youngsters so conscious about savings and investment.
Wasn't like that when I was young(er).

I will recommend reading this blog mrmoneymoustache - search for it, will be worth your while. Made me realize why savings rate is much more important than earning rate when it comes to your financial freedom.
