Why not just hoot Antonio first? Confirm you will not buy other shoes for the rest of 2016. lol.

I'm holding off on anymore shoes for the rest of the year. Hopefully I can resist temptation and store enough ammo to go for Antonio... (I hope :s13:)

Nothing wrong with them. If you're worried about looking too dressed up, brown burgundy will work. Brogueing on black oxfords will make the shoe more casual as well.

Its just another type of material simple as that. Just like croc leather, stingray etc. No overwhelming benefit that makes it trump calf wholely. Kaki wear kaki song.

Some characteristics are its tight fibre resulting more in rolls than creases and its natural lustre. Scuffs/scratches and rolls in Cordovan can also be buffed/massaged out.

Some cons are its lack of tensile strength, weight, breathability and welts/spotting that forms when it gets wet.

Price wise its definitely much higher than before the craze esp for Horween stuff to the extent that some makers charge an unproportionate premium for it (imo).

TBH I've never had cordovan shoes but I love it for everything else.

Hi all, read through most of the 200+ pages here, am new to getting good pairs of shoes as I have been using hush puppies, clarks and aldo. Tried LLYR a few days ago but do not have the size for the model i want (about EU 44/45). Went to some of the online stores recommended here and found that currently pediwear has about 15-18% off for some shoes and seems to have free int shipping (without shoe tree), i.e. http://www.pediwear.co.uk/loake/products/4991.php

Is this a good deal? In addition, i saw a Loake Strand with dainite sole, is this better to have over a leather sole which I will likely be going to topy/vibram. Appreciate everyone's advice, thanks! :)

Pediwear is a good deal. Go for it!

If you're gg to topy just get a danite sole. At least the shoes will be made for rubber soles.

Leather soles on their own is a different sort of pleasure.

Don't put your bets into finding tongue pads in Guardian or Watsons. If you want to use an instant solution without going online, I reckon buying the Scholl Party Feet Invisible Gel Cushions and installing them as tongue pads will work too.

Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look n consider that too.

Not different from any of the other cemented shoes. If it fits your feet and within your budget and if you like the design by all means go ahead. Don't expect it to last long based on the general consensus here. Though I have had Pedro shoes that lasted for over 3 years with rotation. The lining broke down before anything else. Ymmv.

I actually wear my shell cordovan shoes on days that I feel like thrashing them around. Ironic I know, considering that they are significantly more expensive compared to the other shoes that I have, but as LHB has mentioned, all you need is 2-3 minutes of hard brushing and voila! no more scuffs and scratches

Spot on.

I really hate the welts/spotting when it gets wet. Had to leave it to dry then use metal spoon or deer bone to slowly get rid of them. So nowadays I will check weather forecast before wearing Cordovan
