Lol, a few plasters would do the trick. You need to apply them before the blisters show. Otherwise, it'll hurt for another 1 or 2 days. But once you're over that, it'll feel alright.

I once received a tip from a shoe retailer: roll a candle around the heel area to rub off some wax. Did work for me to slip on/off the shoes more easily and reduce 'heel rub' generally. I am not sure if it would spoil your leather though.. Just sharing.

Thanks for the tips, I'll just try the plasters first after giving the blisters a couple of days to heal. :)

Sorry for your pain, but quick question: Are Yankos comparable to Carminas, since they are also Spanish and priced similarily?

Unfortunately my experience with Carmina is limited to touching and seeing in store so I shan't comment too much, but it seems pretty comparable to my untrained eye

Priced similarly only when Carmina on a somewhat steep discount right!

Wow you guys really get blisters with new shoes?

I only got them twice.
1) Carmina simpson last - which i thought fit me well, having worn and fitted in their Paris store. Walked back to hotel in it no problem. Wore on flight back no problem.
Back in Singapore.... 1st wear.... blisters like mad.

2) A cordovan chukka from Enzo.... also gave me small blisters and is still uncomfortable although the fit is ok.

I don't have any other blisters problem with any of my other shoes...

I thought one should not expect blisters if it fit properly... but i may be mistaken.

There would be factors that would be unknown at point of purchase even if one got to try on the shoes. Some would be apparent only with prior experience. E.g. from my own experience:

1. Height of the shoe heel and how that 'cuts' into one's heel when walking.
2. The very act of walking more in the shoes, beyond the few steps during fitting. Different individual's walking style could yield different results
3. 'Tightness' of the heel cup. Too tight or too loose both can result in some form of abrasion.

Yankos are below Carminas imho. They do have some nice lasts though.

FYI, they are not priced the same.

I've become used to the fact that most shoes will result in blisters of some sort on 1st few wears. Type of socks, how much heel cup you get and how snug the toebox is makes a lot of difference.

I think lack of "hinge" point on a stiff new sole can cause some heel slippage and blisters too
