Hi, need urgent help for something wrong that happened to my shoes!!!

I have a pair of red rad rusells, previously got it to be shiny alr especially the capped toe area.

Then I wanted to improve the shine somemore, so I used Saphir neutral polish to polish the left shoe, but to my surprise instead of becoming shinier, it became matte and dull instead and the colour was running off a lot.

Thinking it was because I did not do it properly, I used Wren's leather cleaner to strip off the layers of wax, but then OMG the colours ran like crazy and my whole cloth was red and black. After that the black line across the capped toe region is almost gone and the whole front portion of the left shoe become dull and matte and looks like colour run off.

If you see this URL you will see what I mean by the left shoe issue.

You may wish to check with Rad Russell for this - but the root reason why the colour runs after you apply Saphir neutral polish (assumed wax polish) is two folds:

1) RR did not do a proper sealing after dyeing their shoes, so any form of concentrated solvent/substance will result in colour rub offs

2) The neutral polish, especially those from the Medaille d'Or (MDO) range are highly concentrated in turpentine and will definitely strip away colour.

A good preventive measure is to apply 1-2 coats of Beaute Du Cuir - Creme Surfine (50ml) in neutral before applying anything else - your Renovateur, Creme 1925 and any wax polishes of any kind.

The Creme Surfine will effectively seal the colour in and minimize any potential colour rub-offs by cleaners, renovateur and polishes.

Thanks guys, some good suggestions.

Do we have something along the line of giving away? Like dropping them off somewhere and someone else get to use them? They are shoes which are in fairly good condition

Guys....I've look through the threads and have not come up with a conclusive answer to my search.

I've severe bilateral flat feet and am looking for a office shoe with a good fit. Have recently changed job and wont be driving much anymore. Hence good footwear is quite important to me. With a budget of $350 what would be my best option?

If it's really bad, I think the best option would be proper insoles + whatever shoes that would fit the insoles properly.

any recommendation for insoles?

are those custom insoles gd?

I think it depends on the severity of your foot problem. If it's really severe you may need to visit a specialist to get custom insoles done.

I have a little flat foot, when i wear normal formal shoes with flat n thin soles my feet will hurt.

Recently robinson got sales, Bought the dr martens 1461 with BEX sole.

Can pass off as formal shoes. Quite comfortable to me as i feel there are lots of support. Don't really feel what I've stepped on as the thick soles helped to cushion the impact somehow.

I went to a specialist and made a cast outta my flat feet with plaster and from that cast customed insoles for my feet. the insoles hurts real bad and I never gotten used to wear them. It made me walk in a very weird manner like / \ if u look from the back. Not too mention the soles really ruins the shoe.

I do not experience pain nor discomfort when walking, running doing sports. only happens when the shoes are too narrow. with a 350 budget where's a good place for me to start looking for wider dress shoes ?

Thanks supernova. Do u find the 74945 longer than 946 in terms for the shape?

About the same length. Don't understand what you mean by longer "for the shape".
74945 has more space in the toe box. The instep for 946 is higher but tapers more at the toes.
