More for longevity purposes, worried how low the soles can last in Singapore's condition (home-> Mrt -> office)

If you buy a pair of quality Goodyear welted/Blake stitched shoe, will definitely last you through your studying years till you start working. For your budget Goodyear welted shoes might be a bit of a stretch unless you wait for sales. Can check back here, usually will share if got good lobang. Otherwise look for Blake stitched shoes, within $200 should be able to find.

Oxford shoes more formal, derbies considered less formal, leaning toward casual.

Not sure how you guys managed without topy.. the wet weather and the Malls flooring is a problem for me. Slipped a couple of times..

I agree, when I first started wearing leather soled shoes there wasn’t a day that I didn’t almost slip and fall especially I ride bike. SG cobblers charge so much to Topy shoes.

For sure Topy will help to extend the life of your soles plus not many local cobblers can do proper Goodyear welt sole replacement so resoling also becomes quite an inconvenient option.

I offer quality Topy services at a much lower price than the popular cobblers here, check out my carousell page (@pulloutnow) for more info and to see the great feedback from some of the guys I’ve help. Drop my a PM here or reach out on carousell for more info and pics! I’ve worked on Allen Edmonds, Carminas, Carlos Santos before no problems!

Quick question. Are there any difference between topy & vibram ? The cobbler whom I frequent to stands by only with vibram and somehow don't recommend topy.

Quick question. Are there any difference between topy & vibram ? The cobbler whom I frequent to stands by only with vibram and somehow don't recommend topy.

Depends on which vibram sole specifically. Vibram has a large product line.

The Topy finlux soles is made from a composite of nylon and rubber (a bit like car tyres) to add durability to it. It is also just 2mm thick. There are vibram products with similar composite on the market. They have a few more variety of thickness as well but mostly are thicker than 2mm. For adding the soles, I would recommend a thinner sole. People, and yourself too, still commonly refer to adding a front half sole as Topy so that in itself says quite a bit about the Topy brand. Vibram has only in recent years started running marketing campaigns and releasing more products to consumers (think their 5 fingers shoe) and so have gained popularity.

This is my personal opinion. I don't have any market research/product testing data on hand to back it up. I've had my front sole put on close to a year ago, till date there isn't significant wear, I still can see the ribbing pattern and brand pattern clearly. Hope this answers your question sufficiently :]

Herring Shoes is your friend. Search their sale section or even consider their full priced but made in India range.

I like Brock's channel. Very good primer on boots.

I have all three styles of boot. My favorite I have is the work boot.

What's going on with my sole and is there a need to remedy this?
