A little hard to tell from the angle of the pics. Is that a split or just excess material that had the colour rubbed off?

There is a line but not that the upper and bottom is compong apart. Is some excess wood like material coming out. Looks ugly for sure. And i didny even wear it alot coz i rotate.

Looks like the welt and outsole not sanded fully flush. So the leading edge of the protruding layer bears extra wear

Hmm actually i did that once but very light sanding. I will try again later. The thing is usually after applying cream, everything looks good but once i start to wear, the line will appear again

The bottom lip of the outsole is still protruding, so there will be the line after a few wears as the lip will be worn before anything else

This is a belt grinder's job. Either those cobblers with machines or just cream/wax/edge stain the edge after a few wearings :D

Some shoes from aldo doesnt have grooves at the sole. Is it normal? If so, whats the reason?

cemented is the construction method? i'm talking about the sole whereby usually there are lines so that there is friction to walk. The new pair i acquired is totally just smooth. Is it able to function properly?

Yes cemented is the construction methid meaning the sole of the shoe is stuck on with glue.

The maker can pretty much stick whatever they want.

Smooth leather soles are common in more premium welted (sewn on) shoes. They're not everyone's cup of tea and one of the reasons is that they're smooth. Go to a cobbler and ask for a sole protector if you prefer rubber soles with threads.

For boots, you may want to get Vibram.

Topy/Vibram Service
Kips & Kwik, Junction 8, Bishan - ~$28-35 for a pair of Vibram,

He wants a resole, not a topy. $28-35 at Kips & Kwik buys you a topy.

If we're talking about goodyear welt resole, there really aren't many options, of which have already been mentioned.

anyone own any pair of shoes with wooden soles?
just got a pair of loafers online and the soles are made of wood? kind of uncomfortable as it restricts bending.
