Melt the wax and stir in the ingredients. The pure wax alone can be used for a lot of other purposes.

Moustache wax, hair wax, wooden furniture, leather, etc

Shea butter is very good for the skin.

Can DIY saddle soap too.

I am trying to make some DIY shoe polish and skin care products. Does anyone knows where to buy pure beeswax and pure shea butter for cheap.

Hair pomade beeswax is like $11 for 100g and Lucy Tans pure shea butter is rippoff prices.

I read iherb can get anywhere else availbale locally?

Pure beeswax can find in art friend and it is cheaper than online. I saw in ngee ann city art friend.

On a serious note. You can use it for lousy leather products you don't mind spoiling.

Mink oil is very rich, u don't really need saphir Reno there are cheaper alternative

U can use your mink oil on other leather products, belt etc

I'm using shoe cream in place of renovateur now. Not really effective though, leather still looks dull after a week of wear.

The problem is more of whether it's real mink oil or oil made from other stuff like pork/veg/synthetic lube and sold labelled as mink oil. I think someone touched on this before in this thread and the opinion is the same in style/askandy forums.

Opinions of Mink and Neatsfoot oil are they could rot the seams/stitchings, I have a bottle of this as well and I'll only use it on my cheaper leather stuff that I'll not miss after couple of years. It's not so easy to clean off completely in my experience since it's kind of waterproof, which cleaner do you use?

Seannie is the man to go on DW. The quality ranges all the way from glued construction to "hand stitching"

Quality duno yet. Just worn mine for 8 mths till date. Still looks fine so far so gd. Went back to the shop twice for help to touch up my shoes and they also help arranged to change the worn-out rubber for me. Mine are stitched construction not glued. No hassle. Great for lazy people like me.

I used mink oil on my cheap AE and used Saddle soap to clean it off. So far ok. I also got Tarrago Leather Cream, not tried that or the Tarrago Universal Cleaner.

stitching isn't leather, U can get the shoe resole. the way U had it is like will spoil leather.

if its synthetic lube why will it rot stitching?
In anycase even on a cheap shoes it will spoil the leather, if U worry it damage the stitching just apply on the leather. I used it on my cheap Doc Marten. I love the way Mink oil works on my RL belt vs saddle soap. Saddle Soap I have to apply like every other week.

shoe cream will not get that shine.
I love shine Sapir shoe cream provides, will try tarrago cream and see how it looks. issue is the color abit diff, maybe try vintage look... diff tones LOL

I guess the answer to that would be depends on who you want to believe? For me, I would probably not use it on anything I treasure unless I'm 100% confident it's pure mink oil without other additives and even then, I'll probably not use it solely and will supplement my care routine with other products or just use saphir reno which already has some mink oil compound as its base.

Not all shoes can be resoled esp. those of blake or glued construction. If those stitching rot, how are you going to replace them? Not everyone is as fortunate like yourself to have cobblers who can mend goodyear welted shoes in the same country.

On top of that, there are lots of stitching on leather uppers (brogues, half brogues & etc)for most shoes other than the soles and welt stitching that you mentioned unless one only owns whole-cuts.

Synthetic oil can decay as well when exposed to sun, humidity and etc so why wouldn't it affect the stitching as well just like normal veg/animal product. Unless your stitching are of synthetic materials as well then go crazy with whatever you want to apply.

I use a brush for brown and dark burgundy

Boy, I am impress with tarrago leather cream and shoe cream. Feel just as good as saphir shoe cream.
The leather cream nicely clean and conditions.

NEVER USE THIS ON DRESS SHOES!!!

This is meant for waterproofing soles. Will leave a greasy residue impossible to shine after that.

Some people use on work boots or rain shoes. But a beeswax base sealant like snoseal or beeseal is a lesser greasy option thus attract less dust.

Real mink oil vs pork oil extract.

Reno blends the mink oil with other ingredients. Not sure how much percentage is mink oil.

I feel reno and cream both works equally well. I prefer reno as deep nourishing and cream as a base for polishing to mirror shine.

Depends on your style of polishing.

One school of thought is wax on wax off

Some use one for black one for the rest of the colors

I use one for brushing away dirt, one for brushing off reno and creme, one for high shine with wax.

I am using this for my 2 pairs of Red Wing boots as well. Every 3-4 months I will slap a layer and let them dry overnight. Both are like coming 5 years old and no signs of breaking off.
