Hi, anyone wearing edetal Merlion II?
I'm wondering if it's a fit issue or just me as shoe still doesn't seem to break in or 'season' after a few months of wear.
Leather is still quite stiff and heel slippage is a pain man..
Was contemplating getting another pair of laced outram or raffles II but having seconds thoughts now...

Outran and raffles ii out of stock. Was told it will take a month...

Have u wore other GY welt shoes before? Tried leather conditioner to soften the leather?

I wong you, Bexley got 89 Eur GY shoes now

Their GY welted boots are quite tempting at 129Eur...

Mix of blake-stitched and GY welt models. Leathers and suedes are nothing to shout about. Pretty much basic shoes with decent build quality. I much prefer to buy their shoe trees, which I think were EUR70 for 5 pairs, direct from the store.

There's a sale on the shoe trees 5pair for 59Eur. However, the shipping fee on these are a whooping 42.65Eur...

Read e past few pages and realize here got a lot of poison. Got a few qns which need your help here.

1) Cream applied before wax I presume it's a kind of leather protection? What brands are value for money?

2) I didn't see anyone mention about sole care. Usually my soles wear off faster than e leather covering the top of the feet. Maybe it's my walking style that I tend to drag my feet abit. Do you guys change the "rubber" on the heel sole part frequently and what is the frequency? And if so, where do u do it?

1) Anything you can find locally as cheap as online prices or order online with low shipping costs. Dasco and Columbus seems to be found easily, Mustafa center like got nice variety.

2) Any decent cobbler should be able to do it. If pricing is an issue go find the uncles at the road side.

Pics of the kempt oxfords i got. Fairly comfortable but alot of creases (my 1st wear today) and the left side creases diagonally. Never had this diagonal crease with other shoes.

The crease is quite obvious. It's gona be irreversible right?

Looks nice. I personally prefer it to be more polished up. I do have similar crease lines with some of the shoes that I have. Perhaps its the way you walk?

The creases won't go away but the severity maybe slowed down with the use of shoe trees. I can only update u after my experience with this pair of shoes after some time.

This is 'brush shine' standard for office use, unless special occasion then may do a toe cap mirror shine. Definitely got to do with the way I walk. Probably other factors like the fit and leather quality too. Never gotten such drastic creases before so a little disappointed, although can live with it la..

Slightly loose. I got wide feet. Cannot fit for the correct length. I expect creases becos of that. But not so much. My other upsized shoes dun crease as much. Perhaps if u true to size, wun hv my prob

They have 1 last tat i fit well. But only apron derby for tat design. Need to do custom if u want other designs on that last.

Quite used to upsizing w no issues usually, obviously perfect fit will be best but m resigned to the fact my feet are a G fit. So unless i buy G shoes or bespoke, else need to upsize.

Well that might be the problem. I also bought a pair before that was slightly looser and has bad creasing also. Since then have become more particular over the fit.

Thats unfortunate in yr case in terms of the types of lasts that will fit you. Maybe you can feedback to edetal about this for them to take note. This will help them improve in the longer run.

Don't think the creases are much to worry about personally. Keep the vamp area well conditioned and enjoy the shoes without thinking too much!

In my own experience, I have a pair of ed's Mountbatten boots. No complaints on the build, but I too have borderline wide feet and I find their lasts to be a bit on the slim side. I checked with their sales guys and the newer collection are all on a similar last, so don't think I will be buying anymore since pinching of the toes isn't fun. I'd recommend English shoes for wider feet since their lasts tend to be more generous. I recently got a pair of Loake Strands and those were comfortable straight out of the box.
