U really into shoe spree bro. U must have posted like 5 pairs u bought since last quarter 2013?

Anyway, do update on comfort and breaking in review compared with meermin etc after u wore it ya!

No lar, guess it's time to do a wardrobe overhaul starting with shoes. Maybe due to me reaching midlife crisis haha....

Anyway the shoes i bought are all considered entry level brand.... Compared to all the shoe lovers here I am only touching the tip of an iceberg. C&J/Edwards Green/G&G/abuercy/John Lobb/Wildsmith to name a few... if you know what i means....

It's actually easier to turn the shoe around and polish if you put your hand into the shoe instead.

+1. Thats what i do. Always found it harder to polish w trees on. Unless u are prepared to hold the shoes with your palm across the forefoot area

Not much talk on those brands here actually, though i m pretty sure some of the guys here (at least CBS) do own shoes from these brands.

This is cliche but i guess a lot of brothers has owned loake before. After having couple of meermin, i tot of giving loake a try. As a lot of ppl has recommend, loake 1880 range is the recommended brand to get when foyer into classic men shoe since they are still made in UK. After some research, decided on semi brogue adeleline adelaides burgundy for its versatile attribute to go with almost any colour of pant, even jean!

Luckily I managed to get it before they increased their price with 20% off old listed price. Initially impression when out of the box is that it is very light in weight as compared to most of the meermin classic line I have gotten.

Calf leather quality wise i can already see some small area of creasing at the side of the upper but it is quite small to be noticed. Some area at the side seem to be darker than rest of the area of the shoe as well.... but a quick polish with sahir burgundy creme should do the trick. To sum my opionion thing up, loake is more of commercial product line. Probably an effect of cost cutting measures that Loake has taken to keep selling their shoes at a reasonable price. Whereas Meermin classic line/Edetal/llyr are more of artisan shoe company that cater to aficionado shoe owner at afforable price (Brand listed are about the same price with 10% diff between them). 2nd part of year will be targeting Meermin LM and carmina....

Lol bro... When I saw this, I just had to comment. Why would anyone not be able to pull off brogues? It is a standard classic design. Most formal shoes are just variations of brogues.

If anyone is interested in purchasing shoelaces from ShoeLacesExpress - Over 2000 types and sizes of shoelaces shipped to you fast. , please let me know via PM.

I am org a small MO to close by Friday.
I'll mail the laces to you via Singpost when received.

Include the URL for your item (as there are many diff choices e.g. ShoeLacesExpress - Flat Waxed Dress Shoelaces) and the item number e.g. (Item: 24:11:110BK21), that way we won't have any misunderstanding

For reference, 10 orders of laces, the approximate S&H from the website is USD$1.70 (actually, I think may send via CGW, as it would be cheaper ($7 for 1st kg ?)

in terms of form, they are pretty much the same thing with your typical "formal shoes", but the nature of brogues with their decorative perforations I personally feel it would be harder to pull off in a formal wear, I just feel brogues are a tad towards the smart casual as compared to their derby, oxford counterparts.

Colour of the shoes play a part. Tan brogues would def be more casual than say, oxblood.

Also there's full, semi and quarter brogues. The more broguing then generally more casual.

Hi there,

Is there anyone here who knows how I can get rid of this stain? Apparently it just appeared out of nowhere while I was trying to polish my shoe. Can this actually be fixed?

If one wears a nicely shined pair of brogues, i am sure they are more formal looking than the run of the mill pointy toe, uncared-for oxfords.

Has to agree with archangle13, anyone can pull off brogue, just how you match your outfit of the day. Generally burgundy or oxblood is considered more versatile than tan or brown in which I can mix with brown or brown pant if I want to, initially wanted to get mahogany but decided to go for burgundy which my shoe collection is missing...got it for 280sgd plus shipping

280sgd all in is a pretty good price. May I ask where from? Coincidentally, I'm wearing my own burgundy Strands today. :D
