I think it is most definitely possible to wear non-black shoes (brown, mahogany, oxblood, navy, burgundy.. to name some 'conservative' alternatives to black) for business wear and what you said is probably blasphemy if spouted in Style Forum

But yes, fall back on black shoes whenever you are unsure or in unchartered territories in the corporate world and you won't go wrong.

I think most places aren't that strict nowadays. Brown shoes or darker shades of navy are allowed too.

Btw I work in an area similar to strategy development. So nothing too flamboyant or casual is expected.

Yup, navy single monks, and also if you can recall from a few pages back, the navy loafer 180 from JM Weston; I also bought a belt in navy calf, but I don't wear belts all that often nowadays.

While not exactly navy, I also have a pair of double monks and loafers in blue suede. The navy belt was bought to accommodate the blue suede shoes more than the calf leather ones.

It's just our conservative instinct. Most Caucasians I've met who came for meetings usually wear brown/dark brown shoes.

It's a much more versatile color.

If you have the personality to pull it off, sure. Otherwise, it'll be clownish, especially with purple pants.

Hahaha yes that is very true. In any case, I am of the opinion that you only need the right shade of brown to pair with different colours of shoes, barring black of course. For example, a dark reddish brown belt goes really well with red/burgundy shoes.

Regarding belt loops - I wear my trousers really high, so side adjusters are way more comfortable. Having one less accessory to worry about is a bonus

Don't worry. Today I have seen alot of locals and caucasians wearing black pants with brown belt and shoes with light colored shirts (white, sky blue, light pink, beige etc) and still can pull off the corporate look.

And I work in Orchard Rd area.

Should be around $25. About 30 mins wait to maybe a few hours, depending on the cobbler's popularity

What is your definition of re-soling? If it is about slapping a layer of topy/vibram, then most cobblers are capable of doing that. If it is replacement of the entire leather sole, I think that involves unstitching, removing the existing sole, replace a new sole and re-stitch, and not many cobblers (in Singapore at least) do that.

If you are looking to re-sole the latter approach, IMHO will be best to send back to the manufacturer or a proven cobbler to get the work done. The difference in the 2 're-soling' mentioned above is like applying plaster vs doing surgery. u can simply remove a badly applied plaster but a botched surgery may effectively end the life of your shoes.

And I believe there are different methods but will leave to the folks who have better knowledge to comment.

Hi guys, i have a problem with finding a suitable shoe.

The problem i have is for me, i need US size 12. And i have a very wide foot(fat man has fat feet). I tried going through taka and the size 12 shoes available are very limited and all have a narrow sharp toe which my wide feet will hurt. Any one have this problem too? If so, where did you get your shoes? My budget i would say is around $300 for a pair. Looking for office wear and another pair that can match a tuxedo.
