You don't cake on the wax. There's nothing wrong with a bit of wax to cover up scuffs, scratches and imperfections. The wax also helps with a protective layer on the leather itself.

That's right! It is also the reason why I always give my new shoes a great shine upon receiving them so when they get stepped on or scratched, it usually just scraps off the wax.

A little bit of buffing and voila! Scratch gone!

this only applies to boots like red wings.

on dress shoes, just dump it. the character dun look nice at all with all those scuffs/marks on your pretty shoes.

i have no complains about dress shoes but i find its overkill to wear for office work. its more appropriate for functions, events etc.

I can tell you have little to no experience with dress shoes.

Here is an example of a well worn, well taken care of pair of shoes which is pretty damn old.

Singapore as a country and culture lived majority of their generations without exposure to formal wear or chance to dawn on formal wear so it is expected that many people are not receptive to dress shoes or dressing at all.

Dress shoes however, are the norm everywhere else and if you wear a pair of boots to interview for a firm overseas or even to work....

I have rarely seen people wearing chukka boots to work. Most common I've seen are chelsea or brogue boots, and even then its the exception.
The most common shoe seen at Raffles Place is the Black Square-Toed Leather shoe.
