Bad news Edwin increased his RTW series to 300. And only upon preorder. So technically is MTO.

At this price range can top up a little for M brand (not sure how to spell) which is benchmade quality.

Buy Church in SG is mad prices. And not even handmade quality. With this price range I rather buy the V brand.

DW although its very popular among celebrties is frowned upon due to the quality of the workmanship. I guess celebrities are too rich to care about having lasting shoes or enduring style.
Simi M or V brand?

Lol dude! It's great to have a contribution like this, but M and V brand??!! I really LOLed when I saw this, no offense. :p

You mean meermin and vass, right? Vass is S$700 cheapest lei, and have to gamble on finding right size. Meermin 'may' have quality control and delivery time problems. That made in China thingy for a welted shoe is problematic.

Church's are bullsh*t.

Remember, to look for complete leather outside and inside, including the leather sole. Be prepared to put in about $300 dollars for a decent pair.

Sorry I am a shoe collector. In Singapore due to the freaking hot and humid weather, I hate it, you need to let the leather shoes out to air and dry up. So you need a few pairs to rotate them around. Singapore weather is pretty bad for fungus to grow, so you need to invest in some spray to kill any fungus.

I think Alfred Sargents are in Malaysia, prob KL.

Hong Kong should have the higher end stuff? I know EG and Alden are there. Shoe collectors will be able to chip in on this. :)

BTW, is scotchgrain more water resistant?

why 5? From the website the common discount given is like 2 pairs are discounted. Anyway quite difficult buying online when you can't try on the shoe?

ok now I understand why getting more will even out the 1st pair of shoe price at Bexley.com but is it really cheaper cos once you over SG$400, you will get 7% tax for GST right?

eg. 1 pair... Euro129
2 pairs.. Euro209
3 pairs..Euro 313.50
every pair increment ...add Euro104.50

You should be able to order 2 pairs easily without getting dinged for GST.

If not, can always try asking them to split packages.
Herring can accommodate send shoes separately if you want to avoid tax.

First of all I am really new to buying shoes so I am no expert, just my personal opinion.

I know M. is made in China, then finished in Spain. It is popular for its value for money. I didn't realise they have QC issues.

Edwins rtw in made in Vietnam, it was a good value unfortunately the recent price hike brought it closer to M pricing.

For Vass I agree is a gamble. I can only ask around exisiting owners of their fit and compare.

Despite SG being a shopping haven, it is lack of quality shoes at good prices. Can anyone suggest alternatives?

Or have to try your luck at order from Internet?

I hate fungus. Put a little bit of water to shine the shoe next morning come already. I see before some leather cream with anti fungus treatment but nv try yet.

Cedar shoe trees work to keep the inside dry. I hoot at Muji for my low budget Korean MTO shoes. The shoe tree cost half the price of the shoes so is a bit wt@

Rainy days I will wear my rubber sole shoes as I scare of falling down. If got wax regularly should dry very fast and no water spots. I use cheap polish like Starwax or Kiwi.

IMO, SG is not a shopping haven. There's really nothing to buy. I always window shop, that's all.

I was only laughing at the 'extreme use of brand initials', not the comment itself. :s13:

I only bought 2 pairs online. If anyone is gonna buy shoes online often, my humble opinion is go C&J first. It's the most common shoe size reference point. If that's not a good enough reason, then perhaps think about the recent James Bond and his C&Js. =:p

And what makes you think Ed's RTW are not comparable to the MIC Meermin's ?

Besides the whole Spanish vs Singaporean label.

I won't go near Meermin Classic and would much rather go for Ed's even though the leather used could be taken up a notch. It doesn't take polishing as well as I would like.

MIC Meermin's have had quality issues with regards to the attachment of the sole.

Only Meermin LM is worth going for which makes Ed's RTW price point/value is still unbeatable and great for getting beater shoes for rainy weather.

Who can say no to a good fit too?

Can anyone recommend a good leather conditioner please?

I'm thinking of spending only about $10 though.
