I'm frankly surprised at such comments. How does one impute 'ego' and 'exclusivity' into not sharing information about a picture of a pair of Japanese shoes (that I don't know who made up) that was sent to my Italian shoemaker, Bestetti.
One is welcome to try Bestetti. His shoes start from approximately 800 GBP (~1600 SGD).
(If you check my tumblr/instagram, you'll see that the name of the shoemaker is as plain as day.)
Honestly, that's cheap for bespoke shoes.
It isn't bespoke. It's MTO. I could have been clearer. Still, ~800 GBP is quite the norm for MTO shoes from good shoemakers. However, Bestetti's finishing (polishing and antiquing), attention to detail, last shape, his ability to customise lasts to fit one's feet (not offered by most non-bespoke shoe-makers) and quality are better than most other good shoemakers, and so, RELATIVELY speaking, I think it's an okay price.

was there last week. dont you find the quality of their leather particularly bad?Delayed thanks. Haven't checked in on the forums in a while and I went ahead to peninsula bata. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of ambassador shoes and picked up two pairs (worked out to an average $85 each).

its very low grade corrected grain leather....Would daresay that upon a cursory glance, ambassador construction and quality is similar to that of clarks.
Talking in terms of departmental store brands, the leather quality on the two ambassadors I bought is significantly better than the plasticky leather found on borse morgan/ steve madden shoes. Or the types of shoes you find under S$100.
This is no praise for the brand - it has yet to stand the test of time, which will determine whether I go for a repeat purchase.

On the verge of getting meermin, can someone talk me out of it?

I can't imagine corrected grain leather having 'grades'...
So long as the price is reasonable for what you are getting...
well, its very low grade leather, corrected grain to be exact if you are particular about the 'definition'.
Semantics lahYou misunderstand. I recall someone saying bata uses "low grade corrected grain leather".
I'm assuming that "low grade" is an adjective for corrected grain leather. I'm unaware there are different grades for corrected grain leather. To me, all corrected grain leather are the same.
So if both bata and pedro use corrected grain leather, they are on par. I would think bata is cheaper, though I've not checked.
