Actually very well if you care for them properly.

My pair of Gortex actually held up for 2 years throughout my tenure in active service.

It was only when I went for reservist that the open mouth syndrome occurred after 3-4 years. If you don't wear them, they tend to degrade faster.

How come you get so much activity during your NS days, that you have to worry about your boots?

I would think one pair of boots a year using eMart credits will suffice.

It is stated 9.5E - 11E but its definitely not. It will be more like a US size 7 maybe at most US size 9. Also looking to sell mine off at cost.

These shoe trees are good. But the only bad thing is, when you get one, you wanna get one for the rest of your shoes.

The woodlore adjustable is 5usd cheaper. 125usd total and amazon ships it to your doorstep free.

I have been a silent reader of this thread (>200+ pages) and thankful for the wealth of information on good leather shoes. Finally got a pair from Ed et al last week. I wear EU39, but was informed that EU37 fits me. (which is odd). Anyway, I am looking for a shoe tree. Anyone letting go (at cost)?

I also wear boots for my outdoor pursuits like jungle trekking (hiking boots dun last in real jungle) and paintball.

I think AE's 5 last itself is already half size bigger than the other lasts. I measured a 8.5E using the AE's interactive size guide and decided to down half size for that pair.

His 7.5 fits me perfect. We have same measurements, so I think Luisa is right.

FYI, to help you out, my feet measure about 260cm long and 10cm wide.

I think that translates to US8.5D as well. But I used the AE size chart and got a 9D the first time round, and stuck with it.

My first shoes, which are on the AE 5 last, were size 9D. A little tight but freaking long.

After wearing them for about a year, the width is perfect, very comfy. Still a little long, but the low instep volume helps to anchor my feet (still a little gap at the heel but i'm used to it). If you want to determine level of comfort, I can run in these shoes (and I do that a lot actually ).

In other words, the 5 last is narrow for its length. The length is TTS, but the width is not. I could have gotten away with 8.5E.

Please don't buy those leather shoes with hard heels. Your boss can hear you from miles away. You need to be of certain level of seniority to wear those shoes with hard heels. Your subordinates can hear you from miles away.

Unfortunately, all the better shoes have those. I hope the fact that the heels are hard have to do with some functional purpose. Maybe shock absorption (ironic) and durability?

Just curious, why is it both joseph and yourself didn't opt for the adjustable one which is cheaper and would potentially solve the headache you are having now with the current shoe trees which run small?

Lexyy, since on AE 5 last you are wearing US8 comparing with archangle13 wearing US9 on the same last, I can confirm Meermin 7.5 is too big for you.

Cos archangle13 has tried my Meermin 7.5 and find that it fits just right.
