I am sorry that I have to raise this question again.

Is there any significant difference between Allen Edmonds(USA), Meerim(Spain) and Ed at al(Singapore) shoes in regards to their MTO, RTW shoes.

Made in USA
Made in China (finished in Spain)
Made in Vietnam

Correct me if wrong, I guess.

can anyone help with AE sizing?

i find that AE official web and Amazon's AE conversion charts are quite different.

eg.
AE US 7.5 is EU 41
AE Amazon US 7.5 is EU 39

AE is the easiest to gauge size online. Use the size guide on the official AE website, which measures your feet. If you can even get that wrong, then God help you.

Ignore any guide on Amazon cos the guides are generic. I would think that secondary school taught us to assess credibility - like AE website is more trustworthy than amazon? But yet again I'm proven wrong.

If you want to gauge the difference between the lasts, read the official last comparison on the AE website or the AE 'fan club' on styleforum (or ask there). If you don't understand what I mean, Google is your best friend, not Hardwarezone. And you are welcome.

I only own the first. I have the impression that the first two are on par, but for the last one, there seems to be too few customers commenting to make any form of comparison.

Imo, I would ignore quality for these 3 and just think about convenience and price.

Just got my customs from Ed Et Al. And boy is the leather tough.

The fit is very good though, was quite afraid they might mess up with the shoe height but all is good.

yeap I mean sept :X

Anyway the sale started already. It's on their website. Only 15% off for the oxfords and monks I am looking at so I guess I won't buy it afterall.

Heng the AE site sale price is more expensive than the Amazon sale I bought from or else I will

LOL. i guess you got up on the wrong side of the bed.

i did read through much information online including Styleforum and even used the printed out AE measurements. the pair that i am interested in is the #5 last which is a bit tricky to get the right sizing even for those who own AE shoes beforehand. AE live chat was offline until a while ago but i have more or less made up my mind about sizing at this point.

i see that quite a number of people here at HWZ bought their pair from Amazon and was curious if anyone of them:
1. used Amazon's AE chart for sizing
2. own AE shoes and could do a simple comparison with Amazon's AE chart. not asking anyone to measure your feet again or anything. if no one is able to help or contribute then by all means, ignore my post.
This is because the differences are quite significant as stated in my previous post. i thought that only a simple yes or no is required but it seems posting here has been a waste of time.

please learn that the sizing chart on Amazon for AE is not a generic one but i am not implying that it is more trustworthy than the official AE chart. and you are welcome.

Welcome for? I have 2 AEs and I'm not the one looking for advice. How is Amazon more trustworthy than the official website?

Yea my point is posting here is not very helpful because not many HWZ peeps own AEs, as compared to SF peeps.

I believe from what I read here so far, no one used the Amazon guide. After all, it is just a 'secondary source'. In fact, there was a time that the Amazon AE shoetree guide mislead people into buying the wrong size. In a nutshell, Amazon guides are still pieces of sh*t any way you look at it.

5 last is either TTS, or half size down & + 1 width, depending how much toe room you want. Use actual feet measurements, match with a shoe size chart, or use the AE foot measurement thingy. Don't ever use the Brannock Device.

You are welcome.

Taobao "Woodlore" order

Order on 25th Sept evening arrived 1st Oct PM.

Some DIY is needed. Comes with 2 satchels of free cedar chips to keep the cedar smelling like... cedar.

The cover slides open easily, doesn't not come with the rubber feet like the woodlore version. Wood is very solid. No visible staples or nails.

Plenty of space for shoeshine supplies. Can serve as a tips box too. :s13:

I have AEs and Meermins. Pretty different last shapes in my opinion. I've only just got my pair of Meermins at Madrid last week so I can't comment much on how well they're holding up yet though. AEs are holding up well for the past 2 years.

This is amazing. I need at least 3 new shoe trees and wooden hangers. Doing my own searching on taobao right now and the prices are really very low. They're of legit quality though from the way you were describing them?

Legit or not I dunno. Maybe is illegal logging, Maybe is stolen from factory and sell on Taobao there is no way I can know. But in Singapore laws Afaik there is no import restrictions on shoe trees and I don't need to pay tax and nv underdeclare tax value.

Quality wise will know over time. So far feels like solid wool and no rough edges. I intend to fill my new wardrobe with these hangers when I move to new place next year.

Sweet. I think at that price, no harm giving a try. Will probably get a few hangers, 3-4 shoe trees and a shoe polish box for all my Saphir stuff as well. Cheers for the taobao recommendation!

Np. Remember buy from China at your own risk. Maybe instead of red cedar you get some toxic wood shoe tree.
