Petia,

So, we get to polish our shoes during the session? Probably nice to have company given I've been putting off shining my shoes. :D

Yes. Please do bring your own shoe shine kit and shoes. It is a DIY session. I will not entertain any requests to help polish your shoes :s13:

Please clean your shoes before bringing them out. Be considerate not to dirty the place or else I will be blacklisted from using their premise for further gatherings.

I will finalise the details and post updates.

Does anyone know how a pair of bass weejuns fit, width wise? Been wanting to buy a pair of penny- or tassled-loafers for a while now, and with the discounts it seems pretty doable.

Problem is I've got pretty wide feet. On a loake i need a F-G width owing to a bunion. And money is still money, so I don't want to buy it and find that it doesn't fit. heh :)

would appreciate any directions at all!

I meant local retail prices. The best series now is the Imperials made in India, goodyear welted? , smooth grain leather. Taka shoe dept do sell Florshiem.

I have been lurking at the forum for a long long time. Read 200 plus pages and learnt a lot on the way. Part name of shoe, polishing shoe method, type of welting of shoe. Took the plunge yesterday and ordered 2 pairs from Meermim.

MEERMIN - Classic Collection > OXFORDS > 12153 - BLACK CALF (ask them to burnish captoe)
and
MEERMIN - Classic Collection > CASUAL > 101047 - DARK BROWN RAPELLO SUEDE

Funny thing is the oxford luisa recommended UK8 and the derby causal UK7. I heed her advice and ordered according to the size. Excited awaiting the arrival......

Also want to check with guru here what saphir creme is suitable for treating patent leather? will black creme or rejuvenator be ok?

Not a guru, just a humble shoeshine uncle.

The best thing to treat patent leather is .... Nothing. Anything u do to it is likely to end up with more scratches.

If dirty use a damp soft cloth such as chamois or microfiber cloth to wipe gently.

Small scratches can be buff away with a little bit of mineral oil or petroluem jelly (vaseline or baby oil)

Since patent leather is worn once in a blue moon, i use baby oil to coat the upper with a thin layer to prevent the plastic from being sticky. Wipe away the oil when need to wear the shoes.

When storing the shoes never let them touch each other! Or else may scratch or worse plastic stick to each other.

Thanks shoeshine uncle! That is very informative especially on the mineral oil and the petroleum jelly portion.
