Creased leather needs conditioning as the constant flexing drys out the leather faster.

There are a few companies based in Maine making boat shoes and camp boots. You just missed the recent sales period.

care to share the names of these companies?
there is always a next sales, right now no $$ for new shoes.

Creases usually because of fit and the way we walk and is unavoidable. The rate of deterioration then depends on leather quality and maintenance. U should use shoe trees if not already doing so, would help to slow down the creasing.

My experience with rad russel... crap shoes! Lasted me about 6 months before the sole has a hole. Before that the tips of the toe after I knock onto escalator or stairs became grey/white, its like the leather is stick onto cardboard then got peeled off when I knock against escalator or stairs

Anyone with experience with both ed et al and atelier LLYR shoes? Both local brands and trying to get feedback which is better quality.

In any case I have pulled the trigger on ed et al RTW already, main reason being I find the design more classic. Haven't collected though

May damage stitching when bua...

I read that it is recommended not to immediately topy leather soles but only after some wear.

Questions: how long should it be before doing the topy? How about channeled soles?

see how fast your wear and tear. gut feeling. some people do after a couple weeks of wear, i usually like to delay as long as possible to enjoy the leather sole feeling. ie till danger of stitching expose.

not much budget for now... so ard $150... any recommendations besides the usual suspects (hush puppies / pedro etc)? prefer non pointy shoes since i feel more comfortable wearing wider shoes. preferably with lace then slip ons.
