Very sound guide here. Covers most types of dress shoes and boots.
I've never tried coconut oil yet but have Lexol, Saphir, VSC and Obenauf.
Lexol and Saphir would be the most conservative option I guess. Lots of places selling Saphir in SG although might be overkill for shoes below sgd$300 mark... Lexol can get from Amazon. I got 2 liters of it still unused

In fairness, saying that they "insinuated" you were an idiot or "effectively" reprimanded you, is not quite the same as them literally doing these things. That being said, you've got valid points, it's your right to air your grievances when you felt you had limited recourse, and they should have handled it better.

Oddly enough, reminds me of another outspoken brand that recently sought to incite a witchhunt. How droll.

They can surgarcoat things with language and hem and haw all they want, but I do know the difference when someone is trying to **** on me

Brands mentioned, (from $-to-$$$),
Meermin, AE, Carmina, AS, JM Weston, John Lobb.

It is safe to say, Meermin can be considered the entry level of "good" shoes ?

With regards to the Meermin, do they run true to size ? They have UK size, most I buy leather shoes on EU size, Sneakers on US sizes.

Looks like the leather has dried out severely, causing the top grain to flake off. Shoe polish can achieve a high shine but dosn't nourish the leather as well as creams/oils etc.

Imo that kind of condition, I would use mink oil (which i normally avoid but this uppers of yours look so dehydrated ). Then after the leather has absorbed the oil, go over the entire shoe with cream of the appropriate colour.

Perhaps can share whats the make of ur shoe also? Could be inherent material failure

Lol your post stirring up quite an informative convo at SF.

But i realise that 90% of your pictures seem to portray the warping as a minor "scuff" due to the play of light on the upper instead of the severe concave depression. Probably why some people are saying stupid **** like "this will happen with normal wear"

Perhaps retake a pic by laying a flat object (chopstick) across the depression with a ruler perpendicular to demonstrate the depth of the concavity. Light to be angled and coming from the side with the concavity held as a plane for maximum depth of shadows.

The brand and if possible the range from which this model comes from. After all for leather, there's the crap acrylic corrected grain type all the way to oak tanned full grain leather. Diff materials different characteristics and value( see if worth to even repair)

Please be careful where you buy your AS shoes from.
I would like to say that i have received my AS Moores from AFPOS. The leather on both shoes were severely warped.
When i emailed Sarah with pictures, she replied saying these were perfectly normal and acceptable, along with a comment insinuating that i am blind and/or delusional with a low IQ.
i assure you. I have an excellent iq, good eyes and i know what a good pair of shoes should look like

that's unfortunate, hope it gets resolve soon!

May I check for Woodlore epic twin tube cedar wood trees, when it's inserted into the shoes, does it go all the way to the front where the toe cap is and fill it fully?

& also the heel part, do you have to compress the spring in order to put the heel in?

Currently I just bought Woodlore Epic twin tube cedar shoe tree and what happens is, length wise it's like just nice without me having to compress the spring (almost fully extended) to put the heel am unsure if it's small for my shoes, usually the heel part will have some tension if im not wrong like my Muji pair.

If I push it further in to the fill the front more then the length will be either just nice or short by a few mm even without compressing the heel to put it in.

Just an update on the AS Moore situation.
Since someone was asking, I'll start from the phone call from Julian.
He had called me at about 9pm or so yesterday. He said that he preferred to call because he felt we were misunderstanding each other on email. I thanked him, and he went on to talk about the styleforum posts. He said he felt I was being counterproductive in a way by going very public and felt I didn't give them a chance to do service recovery before going on the forum, though I do not necessarily agree on that point. Anyway he caught me at a bad time and I could not talk for long. In short, he suggested that he would forward the pictures to AS and they would decide if the shoes were acceptable or not. I then told him that I'd already forwarded those pictures to AS earlier in the day.
Shortly after, near midnight, AS reverted saying that my email and pictures had been forwarded to Mr Paul Sargent.
I received a further update from AS this morning
I quote the content
"I have taken advise from Mr Paul Sargent regarding this pair and we would agree with our retailer that this is an occurrence of the leather relaxing after being removed from the last and that the shoe tree will help to remove this over time. However, if you are still unhappy we will gladly receive these back and try to remove this crease here at the factory for you.
We would suggest these initially be returned to A Fine Pair of Shoes and we will repair or replace them for you."
Upon further discussion with AFPOS, they have agreed to absorb shipping cost incurred for sending the shoes back to them. I will be sending them back tmr, I am hoping they get replaced to be honest. I cannot see how it can be fixed.

I suspect you're right that it can't be fully rectified (and I don't see how fitting a lasted tree in will help, short of dunking the shoe, heating it, and hoping the leather warps back).

Unfortunately, life sometimes gives you lemons and that's something we all have to deal with. At least you got it at sale price.
