It's ****.

arcfire, i must say you have done a fantastic job. It looks great.
And green is a brave colour.

Herring has a line of shoes made in Portugal, India etc which is at a lower price point. I have a pair and it is rather good to be honest.

Finally completed my little patina project. First time trying out doing my own patina on shoes so its not fantastic... I did my tests on the sole so that part is not extremely pretty... haha.
I'm not done with the polishing but couldn't resist wearing it out after working on it for so long.

I'm not sure if the natural crust leather is very much different from the pre-dyed leather so I can't comment much about the quality. I can only say that the leather absorbs the dye very well. Thickness wise, its about the same as the LM range from Meermin. I'm using the New Rey last as a comparison for this as it's the closest model that I have.
This is a 915 last from Yanko. It is more roomy in the vamp area compared to the New Rey last. The instep is also higher on the 915 last. Heel is about the same as the NEW Rey last. Not much heel slip issue on this pair for me. (none for New Rey as well)
From the shot I've taken, you can see that the New Rey last is slightly longer than 915 last but to me it doesn't affect the fit of the shoe.
Both are size 7 and I'm wondering if a 6.5 on the Yanko might have been a better fit but considering the instep it might not be.
Leather is not as stiff compared to Edetal, even for their MTO patina shoes. Easier to wear from day 1 and I believe the breaking in would take a shorter time.
The leather is not as supple compared to my Meermin LM but I think it may change as I condition/moisturize it over time.

On a side note, the guys at Patine were absolutely fantastic. Email replies were prompt and they were very helpful. Awesome customer support.
Really nice, man. I like the green hue and intricate burnishing effect. Emitted a feeling of Septieme Largeur and even Antonio Meccariello's vibe. If the toe caps were polished to a mirror shine state, that will be the icing on the cake.

Thanks! I was hoping to get sort of an emerald green shade for this pair. Need to be more aware of the darkening effect that polish and shoe creams will add.
I wanted to wait till I finished polishing up the shoes completely before taking them out for a walk but succumbed to the temptation.![]()
"Genuine Leather"Well the rubber sole had hole after wearing less than a year so my socks get wet when it rained.
Also when I hit the toe cap against the escalator, it revealed a grey layer under the "leather". Makes me wonder if the shoe is made of some cardboard pasted with fake leather
That's one hell of a patina for a first-time effort. Awesome work. Perhaps you can takeover Asia from Dandy. Haha
Really very well done, great job!
Must be very hard to match clothes with dark green shoes
...I think that dark green is easier to match than lighter shades of green. Dark or light pants would do I feel. Jeans would also easily match... its the belt that is an issue.. I might need to patina one just to match it if I'm really picky...
Why bother about belts when you can wear pants with side-adjusters. Heh. Belts, they cut your silhouette in half. imo.
I love side adjusters but fallback on belts to look a little smarter!Yeah, that would be a different combi, but not suitable for slightly more formal occasions where you might wear with pants and belt. Even though green might not be a colour suited for formal occasions but with some colour matching, it could work.... Or at least I hope it would work.... haha
That squeaking Sound is common for shos in the price range. Unless you upgrade level up.Man... I just had to make a quick rant here.... My apologies....
Meermin, is an absolute disaster in customer support. I've been trying to get them to rectify an issue with a squeaking sound coming from my right shoe and I'm not getting anywhere with them... driving me nuts.
Referring to the shoes priced at $175?That squeaking Sound is common for shos in the price range. Unless you upgrade level up.
