Once you stepped into SSD world, you won't look back to HDD.
With sata 1, speed is limit to 150mb/s.
With sata 2, speed is limit to 300mb/s.
One of my rig is using sata 2 interface, so limit today SSD performance.
But normal computing usage, can't feel the difference.
The number is clear in benchmark testing.

do you have extra space in the laptop for msata ssd? If you have, get the msata ssd, and keep your current hdd. use your msata ssd for windows and other important programs, and your normal hdd for others + data
