Like to know from those who bought refurbished MBA/MBP, any bad experience?

Am considering getting a unit!

I bought two refurbished MacBook Pro from Apple store four years back. Still working well.

Does apple disclose what was the previous issues (Screen/GPU/.....) for it to be sold as refurbished?

Is the accessories eg power adapter used/new?

Is it possible to ask apple, why is the unit sold as refurbished?

No, issues were not disclosed. Didn’t come with adapter. Must buy separately. But that was 4 years back, maybe things have changed.

when they refurb, they will replace the part that is broken among other things.

I bought a lot of refurbished from Apple store. They are basically as good as new. Same warranty same 14 days no question return. can buy AppleCare. The only visible difference is the box is white. if you can find custom order Mac configuration can be delivered by next day.

Some say refurbished units are even better coz they went through more QC checks compared to retail unit. Some refurbished units are not damaged, they are just returned units.

Whenever possible I will buy refurbished. It's 15% off official retail for the same product. Covered by 1 year warranty too with option for AppleCare.

Sometimes refurbished could be products people buy and return because change of mind. I ordered an 2021 iPad Pro and returned due to change of mind. Bought a second one and it had a chip on the frame and returned it also.

thank u for your inputs.

I am wondering if those "trade in" units falls under refurbished units?

I had a MBA before & had manufacturer hardware issues within the 3yrs. repaired a few times but still failed. apple took back and replaced a new unit.

I'm wonder will apple repair such failed returned unit and resell it as refurbished unit?

Think of it as any returned units be it for no reason or for spoilt reason they will take it in and see if they can repair/replace the part causing the problem. Clean it up and then possibly either resell it or use it as replacement unit.

Even if Apple were to repair such failed returned, they will make sure that they are working and looking as good as new retail unit before releasing them as refurbished set. The chances of getting a lemon set should be low so I wouldn’t worry.

You can think of it this way, the refurbished unit likely be tested/QC in real world use by the customer and then return to Apple for rectification. The final quality should end by being better.

All of the Macs that I bought are refurbished. No complaints.

That being said, I used the savings that I got to get AppleCare+

Just checked. The refurbished store has replenished stocks for almost all configuration of M1 MBA, MBP and Mac mini and even iPad Pro 2018 and 2020.

no issues with refurbished. All my past mac purchases are refurbished. Battery count wont start from 0 and thats ok. Had apple care on it too. I wouldnt worry about apple's refurbished products. they are legit as good as new. The feel of taking out of the box also feels new.

There is no refurbished with back to school promo. Either buy new from edu store with promo or refurbished without any promo in any apple store
