The improvements aren't very noticeable to most of us who are doing normal office apps, play games and watch vids

The difference will be seen in heavy processing like raw video/photo editing/encoding, very large excel numbers/calculations etc

i think intel too fast for my minesweeper playing

It's not just IPC increase.. heat decrease in AMD zen products too due to the smaller manufacturing process...

Intel's 14nm+++++++++++++++++ in the end will still run much hotter.. that's why u have all the heatgate issues with MacBooks..

They were pawned by an Indian that couldn't deliver. It is one thing to work for Qualcomm who only designs stuff but to put the design into wafer manufacturing is another kettle of fish which the Indian couldn't do. Wafer manufacturing is a very different game unlike software program or even hardware designs. You can't just go and change things, like software programming, at will just because something isn't working right and try to fix it.

So the Indian pawned them big time. Promise the sky but couldn't deliver. Only good at talking.
actually then why they hire someone from fabless to head the manufacturing?

tsmc, ssmc, umc, i like to take mc so many fab house to employ from.....

I have no clue. Maybe because they bought his bullcrap, hook, line and sinker?

AMD is smart, they only give Indians very low level things to do. Things that even if they screw up will not be a deal breaker. The CECA poison is well contained.

TSMC on the other hand, never really used Indians.

Indians can succeed in software or IT is because you can address any issues on the fly. So if you ****** up, u can fix it immediately. For manufacturing, if you ****** up it will only show a few weeks or months down the road. By then, the final product might not be feasible or usable or even end up as trash. You repeat the manufacturing **** ups like that Indian Chief Engineering Officer did at Intel several times, you end up with the delay and failure of the change in process project.

Intel is rich
Intel has most of the market share for those pc manufacturers

amd is trying but intel still win them in marketing. They made the right move to buy ati long ago, cos I think most of the revenue is coming from graphics division

in the end, it’s market share which talks.inferior products... so?
And had to the superior products many times but still remain a small competitor.

did you see an athlon thunderbird in a dell or compaq last time? Opteron? But u do see **** like the pentiums and celerons around

I think intel is keeping amd around to siam anti competition law only. Or else would have bought them out long ago

imho, we consumers just get the most bang for the buck when we buy can liao. Amd or intel also won’t care abt our opinions one

I bought the Huawei matrbook with AMD CPU around 6 months ago. It's only $700+ but it doesn't feel cheap at all. So far I done taking and 1080p video editing is very smooth.

My AMD cpu running for thd past 10+years still running well today. Same motherboard and cpu, only the casing was changed twice and cpu fan.

At one time, it was running Prime95 with 100% load 24x7 for 4-5 years.

The only other problem is bloated capicators on the motherboard, which I DIY replaced. I'm just waiting for the day the cpu dies off, then switch to a raspberry pi.

AMD's Zen4:

"The brand new Zen 4 architecture is rumored to deliver up to 25% IPC gain over Zen 3 and hit clock speeds of around 5 GHz."

https://wccftech.com/amd-am5-next-g...ort-lga-1718-socket-dual-channel-ddr5-memory/
First AMD did Zen, which pretty much chased until Sandy Bridge. At which point it is logical to think "Nice catch up, although it's an almost 10yo CPU"
Then Zen+, "Ok so they are running out of low-hanging fruits soon and improvements will taper off soon."
Then Zen2, "So it roughly matches, losing in single-threaded. This is probably the limit."
Zen3, "Wat"
Zen4 (announced IPC), "Wat"

So the illusion that we are at the limit of CPU innovation just got smashed. Twice.
