Not the best but no harm going..yes,1/2 day will do.

I took a few pic of the place when i was there last year..you can search under my username for the thread i started and look for taiwan 2013.

Hotspring muz soak if u are keen to try out.
The 香腸 near the bridge is quite good too. Other than that, if you do not go dip, it will be like you spend more time on the road to get there and do not much, and back on the road again.

Said is 2 hours max, but to get from tms go xindian to wulai is almost 90mins. To and fro will be at least 3 hours gone. 1/2 a day trip? It will be more.

Can go for half day tour. hotspring, eat the sausages (i ate a few), really delicious. then cross the bridge and take the small train up to see the waterfall.

I wont reco it.

The other time we went Wulai in the morning and Danshui immediately after, almost 4pm then reach Danshui.Somemore we metro to Xindian then cab in.Reach around 9+am..

For Jinguashi in the morning then Jiufen after that..By the time you're done, looking at around 2-3pm earliest..It's quite a distance from Ruifang TRA Station to Xindian Metro Station..

Absolutely inpossible. They are never nearby.

Yes. Jinguashi + pingxi line then keelung nm.

Not necessary to stay wulai for a night.
I been there many times, never stayed there. But it will be good if staying in Jiufen for a night if you can.

Not sure if Wulai old streets operates till so late into the night..

The atmosphere of Jiufen at night is nice and quiet..I stayed there once..Get a nice minsu and can really sit there and relax..

After going there last month, I personally feel Wulai really nothing much if you are not going during the cherry blossom period or for the hotspring.

We went there last month thought is still the cherry blossom period, but all we can see are green trees, and the day we went is a raining Thurday morning, not as much people as shown in Gixxerfield's uploaded picture. The street is not crowded at all. Climbing a lot of stairs there, have a great exercise for us that day haha.

2 option.

There's a bus from nearby TMS which goes direct to old street..

Or take metro Xindian Line towards Xindian Station then take the bus in..This bus is the same as the one above..

Or reach Xindian then take cab in(Prefer this option)..Can go higher point then from there walk down..

By the time u head out should be around 3pm already..If got go hotspring then longer lorx.
