"All games will be playable on all Xbox consoles: Xbox One, Xbox One S and the Scorpio".

Yeah, but the Scorpio will have 6 teraflops. Using a little common sense tells me that the games running on the older hardware will look and run like total crap compared to the newer hardware. If the PS4 Neo/4K matches the Scorpio, same thing will happen.

Pyre, you are a PC master racer right? is there any reason to buy this console at all since pretty much every game announced in the MS conference is gonna be playable on PC.

personal opinion:
get a console for the gaming convenience, note games can be just as expensive as their PC counterparts for day 1 but resale value tend to be higher as well.
get a PC for all the other stuff u can do with it but put up with the upgrade cycle. games can be cheaper at times even for preorders / day 1. zero resale value for games. if u tend to support or like indie titles, i highly recommend PC even if not supported by M$.

i've spent enough time on consoles, handhelds and even mobile gaming to stay updated with the gaming scene. so as they say, it's not so much the hardware in your rig, but the software in your heart :)

having said all that, I think there's an even bigger question to consider: will u be plan to play multplayer? then be prepared to subscribe to Xbox Live for multiplayer? if you don't play MP then it's fine.

PSN is the same story. so either way, if u want MP & to use their service, got to pay for it. buying the games itself won't need subscription.

I think one of the main benefits to game on the PC is that the games can most likely be played on another PC. This is not the case for consoles in the future when they move on to the next gen or if you switch from say Xbox to Playstation. Moreover, I feel games tend to become cheaper on say Steam much faster. At least this is what I think is the benefit of gaming on a PC.
