Saw the comment on the notebookcheck website that IMX09E is by Sony not Samsung. Bigger sensor size than x200 Ultra’s Sony LYT 818 1/1.28 inch.

Hope Xiaomi innovate and don’t keep reusing Sony LYT 900 which is older gen sensor already when Vivo has been the innovation leader for camera sensors for the past few years…

Interestingly Sony pushing out newer sensors but probably will not be in Xperia.

Sony & Samsung rather sell to competitors than to use it in their own phone models… Toothpaste squeezing tactics well learnt from fruit phone…

With continuing strong demand despite average hardware, also make sense for them not to put better hardware inside as to not eat into their profit margin…

Maybe at that time having a slim profile and yet cover a full 1 inch sensor was not feasible. But even now a 1 inch sensor will create quite abit of camera bump.

Perhaps the reason why e g Samsung , Sony do not use larger sensors because -

1) 1 inch / near 1 inch sensors + large telephoto sensors create too much bulk at camera module requiring a design rethink

2) Battery capacity not large enough to practically support bigger sensor requirements, overall user experience will take too much of a hit.

3) like @PES1989 mentioned, if they can make tidy profit off lesser hardware why geh kiang use better hardware. Bulk of users do not care about hardware specs.

And their imaging sensor depts are probably pretty 'independent' entities from mobile department they have their own kpis.

Samsung and sony cmos sensor market got eaten by china companies. Samsung recently dropped to 4th in term of units.

Not the lowest. I've seen it for $1288 or $1298 during June 2025 on Shopee Xiaomi site. I bought the Xiaomi 15 512gb for about $900 during that time with the free Bluetooth speakers

Question to folks familiar with Vivo. I noticed the Control Center (when you swipe down from top) has controls for brightness, but no volume control? Can that be changed? I think the Global version doesn't have, but the China version seem to have.
