SORRY, I think the J&W unit might be rooted as Menu are in English but I still need to find way to modify my hosts file. I use terminal command to check SU but not successful, Root Explorer cannot mounted to R/W, Titanium unable to run cos not-rooted.
I bought one from J&W: Unit from this seller (does or does not?) come rooted as advertised but charged compulsory package. It was supposed to be rooted & most of the apps are widely available on the net. I thought save myself time on rooting as I want to add hosts file to block ads. It turns out non-rooted.
You might want to try the other one.
The premium contents, you need to pay extra $80 per year. If you looking for that, I think you look around will find alternative linux box come at around USD$100 plus, free 1st year, stated USD$80 renewal but I think I also saw USD$60. It might be better off, no lacking, just on/off.
It does occasionally stop but not very often, based on a few hr test. I didn't really test.
Transferring file between pc & mi box:
In stead of using USB/SD card, you can use ES file manager to share device storage, copy apk from pc to share folder, then install from there.
Playstore not working:
Use emulator e.g. BlueStacks to download the app, use Titanium backup to backup into apk file, transfer to device, install-not all app will work anyway.
Brower, I am using Dolphin and was able to play online TV with Flash contents.
Now I need to root my J&W unit. I hate annoying ads.

I'm looking to buy 3rd Gen Mi box from qoo10. Shortlisted 2 seller's. The issue here is both seller make it compulsory to get "premium" package which add S$40-50 and No Guarantee if one of the day later can't watch.
Then there is this S$80/yr thing to enable to watch those in this
my question is, can i get the MiBox and pay S$80/yr for those channel without paying the premium package?
