Eu miui weekly 8.2.1 is what I'll recommend.

if you are someone who can live without Google play services, SOT can hit 25hrs ,4 to 5 days standby.
apps like m1, grab and Uber heavily rely on Google play.

A1 seems to lose both in battery :(

I don't game but still prefer mi max 2 for its battery and bigger screen size too.
note 4 is good if you don't mind the smaller battery. it's like a miniature of max 2.
i will choose redmi 5 plus pro if the battery hits 5000mAh.

Usually first Yr is by manufacturer.2nd yr by seller. That's how it works with best or courts. Challenger should be the same too.
I don't see how or why xiaomi would refuse to warrant ur local set just because u bought extended warranty program from the reseller.

In fact, u can just use ur challenger receipt and go to xiaomi service center for warranty claims within first yr. Skip challenger totally.

Drop and screen crack where got warranty.

Anyway nbzb this star shield repair. After changing screen the button lights not working.

Please avoid local sets. Ccb

what's that?

I use this implementation of microG

https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/microg-unofficial-installer-t3432360

microG allows u to login your google account without the need of Google Play Services (and its overhead). All google apps work, including GPS, except Play (games), Music, Photo (usable, but won't sync) There could be more, or less, unsure of the status now, coz I don't use the above mentioned.

What works for me, perfectly including sync & backup: Google Calendar, Contact, Drive & Keep.

Actually, MM2 SoT can be much higher. Need Oreo, microG, xPosed-AmplifyPro-xPrivacyPro, MyAndroidTools Pro, custom kernel (with better governor, hotplugs). The aim is to tune the Alarms, Wakelocks & Services. 90% of all ROMs, apps from Play Store come with hidden services & broadcasts (appmeasurement, firebase, campaign, referrer, plus many more).

Even Google Play Services overhead can be toned down using the above methods. Best battery idle drain I could achieve is 0.4%/hr on my current phone.

Don't proceed unless you are adept with rooting, recovery (including imei & qcn), partition backups. Just to be on the safe side. Minimum is Titanium Backup & TWRP usage, so you can restore your ROM & data when things messed up.

I will roll a basic custom kernel for MM2 when I buy my own unit.

Interesting, it's good to know you can go all the way to 0.4%/hr. I'll advice all TWRP folks to do a NANDroid backup with stock ROM to avoid all the worries if any.

but next alternative is NOTE 4 with similar processor as MAX2 just that smaller size?

The Note 4x is the most value for money in terms of performance and SOT right now. I have 3 of them in the family and the battery life never fails to amaze me.

Without even tuning a custom ROM, you can easily last a day with 2~3 hours of heavy gaming and still have juice for everything else.

If no desire for larger display it's bare fact that N4 still best value, my dad got the 64GB one and he never complain once after dumping his old samsuck S6.

Agreed, as long as you can live without Quick Charge.
Tip: Using the shortest USB cable, with ferrite core, will speed up your charging time considerably.
