In order to make it such thin and light for a 6.4" phablet, sacrifices has to be made, which would mean the metal body must be light but light metal might not equate to sturdy.

Before making such sweeping statements, please go and physically try the phone first.

The phone is solid. At least much sturdier than an iPhone 6+. The sides are of solid frame metal instead of continuing the thin metal skin of the iPhone 6+. The reviewer is using malicious force and of course most things will bend. For normal use, we keep in pocket that's big enough and not tight jeans, it felt solid.

i realised china/india set no difference, just gotta flash it via edl mode and bam, you've got a set running global rom without any issues.

thanks kelvinti for the tips! =D

I will be getting a China set next week. Is there a thread that specifically walks newbies through how to do this flash thing? TIA...

For metal phones, there's a certain possibility that it might bend but of course certain level of strength must be applied at the same time too. That's why I added a 'might' in my statement.

@toolittletoolate28

Go en.miui.com
Click MIUI 8 Global ROM
Click Mi Max
Click 32GB Global
Click Download Full Rom for Global Stable

After download complete, connect phone to computer.
Copy downloaded rom to downloaded _rom folder.
Launch update tool
Select choose rom
Browse to downloaded rom folder and tap on the room file that you just copied to phone
Choose erase and update.
That's it.
Phone will reboot and update process begin.

Do note that your data will be gone. So, do backup first.

Thank you. :o

The battery is incredible. Got it on Wed and still on around 60%, only use it for FB, IG etc

Nowadays, big screen is so common that it's already the norm. I was on the bus using my big phone and nobody bats an eye. There's a guy using a 7in tablet with big bezels that his actual screen is not much bigger than mine. Last time when I was using my big Note 1, such big tablets and other big phones don't exist so my big phone used to attract attention.

The logo "Mi Max is the new big" is better to refer to the BIG LASTING battery.

I started checking on phones with big batteries when I saw Leagoo Shark 1 being recommended on TV CNA TECH TALK, "takes the crown for the smartphone ... That huge 6300 mAh battery will provide 72 hours". Then when people started using the phone, they found out that the battery capacity stated is over exaggerated and the actual battery life is short.

I thought that's typical of China phones, we cannot believe them. So I was also sceptical of Mi Max when I read about its big battery. I waited and patiently watched those who bought the phone in this forum for 3 months. I was pleasantly surprised when the reported battery life by users is real and long lasting. Then I bought mine and the battery lasted about 2 days with my heavy use. No more battery panic within a day or carrying a big power bank for security peace of mind.

After 2 days of hands-on, like it alot, can retire my Nexus7 tablet. However the back is slippery to hold and can be easily scratch, so immediately gotten a TPU backcover to protect and for better grip until I get a flipcover later.

So far encounter this bug when connecting to my win10 pc - no file appears even though I have already selected MTP file transfer. Have to select PTP and then switch back to MTP before it shows up on my computer. Wondering if anyone here have this issue too. Also quite annoying is that the default usb setting is charging only, and have to manually switch to file transfer everytime when plugging usb to pc.

Have send my request to unlock bootloader just today, so now have to wait for the approval. I am searching on how to root and install twrp on MIUI 8. If anyone have the source, please let me know (TIA!). On the MIUI forum, the tutorials on rooting and installing twrp are on MIUI 7, and I wonder if it can be used on MIUI 8 too.

Beside a wallet flipcase, I will also need to buy a armband that fit this phone for my workout.

Anyone who is looking for a phablet, should seriously consider Mi Max.

After you plug into your PC / Notebook, you need to ON the phone and go to desktop. If you use fingerprint unlock, then must unlock your phone first before you can see the content.

Hope this helps.

Do any of you experience delayed notifications of emails, chat messages and sms? I saw some posting bugs on the MIUI forum.
