hard truth.

big is big for capacity

durability, ability to hold charge, quality of battery cells do matter. that said if it can hold 80% of the capacity after a year, it is still a monstrous 3800mAh

so far 24 hours on battery (4G/WIFI), 2 hours SOT, still got 83% battery left.

Agree as with all new electronics battery life will be good but question is how well it will hold over time.

Looks like the battery is not too difficult to access based on the teardown pics...let's see what happens in about 6 months time when things start failing.

phones like Mate 7 with 4000 MAH 6inch could do 8 to 9 hours SOT with avg usage , I am bit worried with 4800 MAH and much advanced LTPS Screen can do only 6 to 7 hours with much more efficient SOC .

from what I have observed the drain is high with the 4G Data enabled . however when I am on data disabled and just using apps without internet the drain is super low , i used for a two hour movie in the night and it drained only 10% I had 90% battery with 2 Hours SOT .. so wondering if its the radio / MIUI

Personally, I think anything above 5hr SOT is ok.

Your standard workday is 8 or 9hrs...I bet one ought be using the device outside office hours on such high SOT....otherwise productivity goes out the window.

Yes I agree with that , just that I am looking at situations like a weekend trip or a journey on flight where more than 4 Hours SOT continously usedto watch movies , only on those rare situations. but then I would carry my Tablet too , not that I am complaining was just trying to see what is special with this big battery compared to other 3000+Mah phones.

hahah .that is good , hope they release AOSP for mi max soon , RMN3 already has aosp.

I suspect that will only happen after xiaomi max is officially launched in Singapore, which will be 3-4months fastest.

Haven't been able to update to the latest rom but that's a small issue.
