Got Widevine L1?

Global rom will have Widevine L1 AND support HD on Netflix.

China Rom also has Widevine L1 but DOESNT support HD on Netflix. Its a mess honestly. Why have so much certification when it doesn't even mean anything, all the video streaming companies need to solve all thes gripes

Nothing to confuse. Well China Rom of Pad 5 can get Netflix L1 before Global version launched. Only Pad 5 Pro yet to have it. Now Heard Pad 5 Pro beta version can get Netflix L1. Possible Global version of Pad 5 Pro on the way to launch globally too.

Eh? I don't understand what you mean... the bro say the China ROM is certified widevine L1 but can't playback full HD on Netflix... launch earlier or later doesn't matter if cannot playback full HD then the certification is worthless leh... unless it's a region lock? But some China ROM able to get full HD? Confusing to say the least...

Saw few Mi Pad 5 China Rom users claimed their Netflix setting showed L1 which can play HD instead of Pad 5 Pro only showed L3 and only can play SD. All hardware actually are widevine L1 certified but only Pad 5 recognized by Netflix. Well it could be due to Xiaomi open up the Rom for Pad 5 first or certified Pad 5 by Netflix first.

Ah... that means in addition to the widevine L1 certification, still need Netflix to add the device to their list of devices allowed to playback full HD videos from Netflix... probably will take a while before the Mi Pad is added... although I still don't see why there should be a distinction between the international and global ROM unless it's to comply with Chinese regulations...

For ROM, actually diff countries have diff ROM. I used to flash rom on phone before especially Samsung (long ago Lol), each countries have diff ROM ie Msia,SG, Indonesia etc. Now not sure still the same not for Samsung since long time no own one. Lol

My set (stock) has arrived at the local seller shop on Monday but they can't ship it to me yet due to that the official sales date is 2nd October.

I will only get it the earliest, on the 3rd October.

As for my case. It was just shipped out on Monday night from China. My case will definitely arrives later than my Xiaomi Pad 5..

I was researching on this issue, some people sideload a "modified" Netflix apk on their China set and can play full HD on Netflix.
