First, did the shortcut root via update.zip. Selected a wrong option and bricked the damn thing.

Revived it after long research. Tried to flash to developer's fastboot rom but encountered errors e.g. note force-closed, chinese options appear even when language is set to Eng.

Worst of all, Google Play Market disappeared.

Tried to download google installer and reload all google apps but they wouldn't work.

Honestly kinda fed-up with the whole thing..

Any kind soul able to redirect me to the right file to download so I can thereafter install CM11 and root?

u managed to install back the std rom?

Just flashed to miui 5.3.27
Managed to install Google installer and apps
However, Play Store force-closes immediately

Realise this miui 5.3.27 is on system 2 and system one is still on 4.11.21 fastboot
Also has Play Store force-closing issue T-T

actually you can have both miui and cm11 on your mipad.

there's a dual boot method.

try flashing developer rom onto system 1 through recovery mode. i think you are not able to choose the system to flash the firmware in fastboot.

the china and developer rom are quite unstable, in my opinion.

i flash my mipad with the developer rom, just for the purpose of flashing CM11, right after that. encountered too many problems with the developer roms on my mi3. and like you, spent almost a day to get it back original condition.

since you have no problem playing with fastboot, you should be able to resolve the problem.

One more noob question: what is that circular thing on the left of the notification LED.

I only noticed cause there is a hole there on my screen protector. Tried googling but no success.

That should be the ambient light sensor.

since you have no problem playing with fastboot, you should be able to resolve the problem.

Got it running on 5.3.27 with working Google apps now.
tried finding away to root but only found the update.zip method (doesn't work) and vroot/iroot method (dodgy file, set of some antivirus Prog).

Anyone has reliable root method to recommend? Please also include the ROM file u used prior root as I realise that is crucial.

Hi all,

Is it common for Youtube video to be a bit choppy in the first few seconds? It happens when I use the Youtube app.

Also, the Mi launcher seems to crash every now and then when exiting apps.

So far, I like the Mi Pad except for the bugs in the OS.

I have the same choppy issue with YouTube as well, for the first 10 seconds or so

Yes, first 10-15 seconds. Very annoying. After so many OS updates and Youtube app updates, the problem still persists. Think it's because of the Nvidia K1 chip. Cos I have never experienced this on my other Android devices.

Yes, I experience the same problem with Youtube. And yes, the MIUI launcher is very problematic. You are not the only one.
