It depends really. I bought mine in July for only $299.56 for 64GB MiPad + Tempered Glass + Fold case + 6mo warranty from qoo10 (local seller).

I compared that with $249 16GB from xiaomi website, was a very clear cut decision.

Once received, straight away unlocked, installed TWRP and flashed CM11. Very easy and fast process.

Was at mi service center today and play with mipad, too bad the screen is too small... I will prefer a 10"

Hi allanz,dokie81,

I agree with both of u. Went to simlim last night to the "xiami store" on the 1st floor and tried on the mipad. I personally feel its laggy. Is this because due to "old firmware"? (As in not up to date?) Or its like that feel?

When I turn the pad from vertical to horizon, the transition of the screen was very very slow.. zzz

Other than that its ok leh..

Btw, just getting that for my mom usage only. She just surf webs, Facebook, whatsapp and line call. That's all.

What u guys think?

p/s: I am comparing mipad to the asus zenpad 8.0

Mipad cant be used for whatsapp and line. You need tablet that can take sim card/phone function for this. E.g. Galaxy tab s2, tab 4, etc.

Whatsapp can just use whatsapp web on tablet, otherwise there is a workaround to use whatsapp on tablet. However, using whatsapp web is still the best, since your whatsapp provision on your phone won't be gone, hence both devices can still be used for whatsapp messaging.

Line, I believe there is also a way to use it on tablet.

don't have experience with zenpad...but for mipad...the miui for mipad is sux...and xiaomi don't want to reveal their kernel for 3rd party developer to build better rom...so now the only alternative choice of rom is cm11..which imo is better alot than miui for mipad. but its not easy to flash.

Ohhh yah.. U guys are correct.. Mi pad can't put in a sim card.

Now I am considering if I should just get the Asus zenpad 8 or just a normal Asus zenpad C7.0 which is only at 199 for her.

yeah....xiaomi somehow format it to two partition... have to ensure to wipe the system one and install cm11 on partition one...you can get the rom from en miui forum....ignore the twrp instructions as it will not let u install the cm11 correctly...

I finally flashed 2roms into the 2 partitions.
Totally ditched miui. One cm11 and one aosp rom in each.

Cm11 still run smoother.

Asus zenpad is a much better choice.
