Think when I was at SLS listening to the kawaii syt gal promoting the Mi TV 2 to me, whenever she turned the TV off and on again, it's at the home screen.

I guess this "feature" is more of PC/Android TV box than TV.

There are electrical appliances sold in Sg with 2 pin plugs. They are safe to use so long as they have the safety labels. Eg. many battery chargers for hp comes with a fake earthing pin (made of plastic) to facilitate plugging into our 3 pin power points.

2 pins plug mean 2 wires in the cable. You change to 3 pins plug still only 2 wires connect to 2 of the 3 pins. Do u think ok?

I do know about the Safety label. Just that I don't know what is the law/rules governing that. So for the Mi TV2, can I just buy a 3 pin plug with safety label and change it on the Mi TV2 and it'll be consider as ok? If not, then what are the things that need to be satisfy to consider it is legit.

From what I heard, if your house caught fire and if the insurance investigator finds out that the source of the fire is caused by a electrical plug which got no safety label, the insurance company can decline claim.

Anbody can confirm?

I almost wanted to buy it. Then I decide to go shop around before deciding. The above is one of the offer I found.

Assuming that I less $200 for the 32" LED TV. It'll be $2.6K. Which is about $1.2K more expensive than Mi TV 2. Setting aside user experience etc and assume that both quality are comparable (not totally the same), if both were to last >3yrs and didn't spoil, Mi TV 2 55" will the most the most value for $$ choice.

If panel spoil within 3yrs, then of course Samsung is the better choice.

So still contemplating.

did a brief read, its like the different "codec" that is being supported
That said, the main 10 profile will need transition time. 1st for film makers, then a few yrs later to mainstream.
I wouldn't worry for now.

Do take note that those buying 49", HDMI is still 1.4 as oppose to 48/55" with HDMI 2.0

Also noticed that the new 48" is spec to spec with the 55" only difference in backlight technology.

Never ending comparison. I would say "Buy Now. Talk Later"

yeah i downloaded this as well. i noticed something is that if i download this video, or any youtube 4K video in MKV format, the MiTV cannot play it.

I need to download as mp4, then the MiTV can play it.

I have no issues with other MKV files but just youtube downloaded ones.

The Mi TV in Singapore now are all parallel import from China. No official warranty from Xiaomi Singapore.

I need to clarify the word "They" highlighted in bold. It means any electrical appliance which operates at mains voltage of 230v. It is not restricted to the plug alone. So a tv set which operates at 230v will need a Safety Label. But if the tv set operates at a dc voltage of say, 20v, through an ac adaptor, then the tv itself does not need the Safety Label but the ac adaptor will need one. In both cases, the 13A plugs need labels. The law penalises distributors and sellers who sell these products without label. But there is no penalty for consumers who buy such product. Nonetheless, if an accident happens, you bear the consequences. It is good to understand the risks.

Edit: Read this for a complete list of the 45 categories of goods that need to have the label. You may be surprised that fuses for the use in the plug is in the list.

There are exclusion clauses in the insurance policy which states clearly what is not covered. For those insurance I bought, I have not come across such clauses. It is important to read carefully the policy to understand what is and what is not covered.
