I would rather pay slightly more for 2gb ram, 16gb storage. But I guess since I'm getting it to use as an NS phone, it should be sufficient. This one can use in green zone, right?

Use less ram but not the user ram. Currently it can take as much as 20% of user ram space. Is how manufacturer play around a ram build in for OS or use the user ram !

You will be surprise many people just use a few chatting apps and facebook app and a few 2D games so why would 1GB not enough as a $169 phone?

even higher price mid range phones like Moto G and HTC 610 and some Samsung phones also have only 1GB RAM. how do they fare after installing some apps?

not likely, as the IDA entry says
"Mobile Phone with 802.11 b/g/n WLAN + BT"

no AC band for wifi, so likely redmi 2 [which doesn't have AC band], and not mi4 [which has AC band]

fyi, redmi note 4g's entry says
"Mobile Phone with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WLAN + BT"

whenever I play music and surf forum, my music player will stop.. Happens to various music players, most likely to be insufficient ram.
