I am keen to buy the Redmi 4 Pro. So far I always bought local sets and understand that China sets might have some restrictions. Is there a way to change the OS to English and also to make it work like a local set i.e. able to use Google Apps like Google Play, Maps etc? Or is it like I have to wait for a Global Rom to be released as I need it to be able to run the Google Apps?

The resellers here will install the Google apks separately and change language setting to English.

My Redmi 3 was using China ROM for a good 4 , 5 months until the Global ROM was released. However, it is not a perfect solution. 90% of the time, daily use is ok. But 10% of the time, some issues (example, appstore default is mi store, cannot change to Google play even if u installed it) most serious problem was WhatsApp seem laggy.

Thanks koxinga. I didn't realise there are such potential issues. Will take them into consideration before I purchase the phone.

Bought this phone 2 days ago. Excellent battery life, with moderate use it lasted me two nights before I charged again today from 30%. Build quality seems good. Better screen and design than 3s Pro. Fast. Like previous poster said, most things work fine. Occasional Chinese apps notifications which I have to update the settings so they don't appear again, contacts not fully sync but not sure if it is because I have multiple Gmail and outlook accounts so this remains an issue but still not very critical, Google map works fine, mails work fine, Google app store works fine, can't find the Google drive icon but I can still run it from app store. Will do as my working phone until the global ROM is released.

Hi. So far do you have any issues? Like whatsapp delayed notification etc... Some of the previous Redmi 3 had this annoying issue.

Thanks
