Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

I got one for my wife a month back. Replaced her iphone 4.

She likes it, but a huge problem for her is that she's on 3G, and sometimes, the data just...drops. Disappears completely and she has to practically reboot the phone to get it going again. Anyone else have that problem of data just cutting out from time to time?

No problem here. Her plan is LTE or 3G?

Settings > sim cards & mobile networks > sim card settings > preferred network type

Make sure it's correct

Her sim card might be faulty thus the instability.

Go get it replaced at telco for free and see how it goes after the replacement.

Be it on 3G or 4G, frequent signal dropping should not be happening.

Having said that, 3G stations are getting lesser and lesser now thus the frequent drops at non signal spots is a possible cause too.

Let your wife gets a better life... Upgrade her to 4G bah...

Thanks for all the quick replies. We are both on the old old 12 gig 3G plans for dirt cheap. My office ipad is on 4G and isn't much faster and we are both hanging on for the cheap thrills

I used to experience the dropoffs with my Redmi 2 (also on my 3G plan), but come to think of it, it has stopped happening. The Redmi is getting a bit laggy, so I'm planning to get a RMN3 for myself.

She is on 3G but her setting is on "Prefer LTE"! I've switched it to "Prefer 3G" - let's see how it works!

The one we have is hers. She likes the big screen, and the great battery life, but the data dropoff is bugging her. It nearly killed me getting the contacts and whatapp chats transferred from her old iphone 4 to the RMN3 though. Wasted 38 bucks on Backuptrans for nothing.

The second one I'm planning to get will be for me. I'll kiss myself the whole night!

i long Press sides of screen nothing happen... slide from side it just scroll the screen... i activate all the edges also cannot work leh

iphone can't sync contacts to google account? or export?

whatsapp chats can be backed up using their online service now, don't even need to back up yourself

Export via icloud, import into google contacts.

Xiaomi frequently update their MIUI, but not for their Android OS update. They're excruciatingly slow on Android OS updates, though what they say is their MIUI is more advanced than current Android OS versions..

Actually I prefer it this way TBH. I don't really need the latest MM build or doze (coz the phone battery life is already great!) or any other eye candies from MM. What we use or face daily is MIUI. As long as MIUI works efficiently and flawlessly, I'm good. Look at Touchwiz. It is running on the latest MM but problems and lags still persist. Anyways, since we are using OEMs phones, prompt updates from Google is just improbable.

I keep seeing this stupid ads now and then on my Note 3. Not sure if it is due to apps installed or the phone itself is pushing ads to me. Had the same apps on my previous Samsung Note 4 and no such prompts before..... Weird.
