I heard that Xiaomi no longer provide 1-1 exchange for warranty claim, is that true? I saw a lot of people complaining on Xiaomi facebook that the service centre refused to provide 1-1 replacement for units that were defective within a week to 2 of purchase or even for DOA units.

My experience 3 years ago was different, they provided 1-1 replacement when they were not able to fix the problem on the spot.

According to their website, for phones there's limited warranty which is labour and parts.

"Remedies available to the buyer (under lemon law)

The buyer should bring the defective product back to the seller to ask for one of the following:

Repair of the defective product within a reasonable time at the seller’s cost; or
Replacement of the defective product within a reasonable time at the seller’s cost.

The entitlement to repair or replacement will be unavailable if repairing or replacing the defective product would be either impossible, or disproportionate in cost."
.

Caveat I'm not an expert. Can read more in case, mti website.

New Star or Smart Cell, which is more reliable ?

Both are good as far as we are concerned.

However, in term of preloaded rom, go for **smart-ass as the chances of getting a roti prata set with global rom is higher as NewStar has China set only with preloaded China ROM.

**Based on Mi Max....

Just got the Note 3 last night for my mom.

Unable to sign on to home 5GHz WIFI.

Tried to do a reset and setup again but still same.

Reboot few times also no go.

I understand this phone still has problems with 5GHz WIFI connection?

No real solution yet?

Change your router 5Ghz to channel 36...if you have not done so.

BTW, no problem for me switching between 2 routers with 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz respectively.

No access Indonesia

I was in Indonesia and would not access the internet from any router whether in hotel or Starbucks. Keep getting an error message saying "cannot correct time" or something to that effect.

Anyone encountered this or have a solution?
