Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

Can somebody help me out here with my understanding:

1. Out of the box, the phone is able to do fast charge with the given charger. That means that it's able to charge 2A instead of 1A.

2. I need to purchase a quick charge 3.0 (though RN5 only support 2.0) charger to do quick charge which mean charging at a higher voltage.

3. When I connect my XM powerbank to the phone, it has a little circle around the charging lightening icon. This means that I'm doing QC 2.0.

Right ?

1) Yes 5V/2A is supported.

2) QC2.0 charger is enough. Difference between QC2.0 & QC3.0 is the variation of voltage only, which for RMN5 is irrelevant since it doesn't support.

3) Yes the circle means quick charge.

Don't buy this.Didnt work after one week.The charger became very hot and cannot charge.Another buyer say his fuse burnt after using this charger

1) Ya. But then again, if you notice a very slow topup, already know it's not at full 5V2A alr.

2) Not always. It depends on the "signalling" between the charger and the phone. Sometimes if it isn't compatible, it can be as slow as 5V0.5A (500mA) at it's cap, essentially USB normal output speed.

This happens especially for no name brands.

That's why it's better to buy a known going brand than a brandless one at all. But not all tiong brands are good. Like LDNIO.. i bought their 4 port 5v/2.4a charger which can't even charge my tab pro properly on its own

Yes agreed. It is better to buy a branded charger for reliability as unknown brand rectifier might output unstable fluctuating current.

i saw mine recommended on the mi max thread. at $8, it was worth the try.

Stable enough to qc my rn5 while the 1x 2.4a port was charging my powerbank.

around 55min for 20-80%. not too bad considering the battery size.

Thanks for the FB. Sounds like quality issue. Lesser brand probably has some QA issues.

Is it wise to go for the Redmi S2 32GB just for the 3-slot card tray, or go for the Redmi Note 5 4+64GB and don't use micro SD anymore as 64GB should be more than sufficient?

Was thinking abt dis as well before buying the note 5 lol, but the SD636 inside N5 really sped stuff up alot compared to the older 625.

Yeah I also read about the speed difference, and the 636 is way better.

The another thing is the difference in camera. The Note 5 has better camera than the S2, but not too sure if the difference is big or small, otherwise the S2 could be more than sufficient.

Got the carbon fullscreen glass from Taozi... no halo effect at the middle of the screen.... but the edges are pretty rough... and it actually reduces the effective screen area...

Me too. Just received my 6/64GB black from Boom and the ROM is also OIIMIFA.

Going to apply to unlock the bootloader and re-flash to be safe.

well i would said that depends on what u need from the mircosd storage. some are for videos, music and photos while others find that internal storage is more than enough for videos and photos.

Actually it's for my mother, but her current 8GB micro SD card only use around 3GB for photos and videos so I was thinking if can just rely on internal memory instead if get the 64GB one.
