My wife's RMN5 AI seems to experienced the same symptoms. Phone keeps random restart. A few times, it'll turn off and very hard to power it up again.

How long did it took the shop to repair for you?
i bought from a local shop who shipped it in from china.

when i boguht it they said 6 month wty (qoo10).

so i sent it back to the shop, they sent it back to china xiaomi service centre, then they brought it back lor.

china xiaomi should be the same as xiaomi singapore i am assuming, at most 1-2 days. but the shop of course will have to minimise expenses and try to ship it there and back along with their routine shipments.

took me 5 weeks to get it back. i understand the shop only sent it to China on week 3. then week 4 said repaired, but needed to wait until week 5 to follow their china shipment back to sg.

Bought a used Redmi and was stuck in the setup with the following :

This device was reset. To continue , sign in with a Google account that was previously synced on this device

Any ideas how to get past this ? I can contact the seller but it will be troublesome for him to sign in on the phone or give me his sign in password.

Can anyone help please ? Thanks.

mine. motherboard problem. phone kept losing power. then it won't be able to turn on again unless i shake the phone.

is your phone bent? use a ruler to check.

Phone bent likely means battery is bloating. I've got an older Note 4x that has a battery that bloated twice its size and damaged the display.

phone bent because my pants are tight la and i put a lot of namecards in my phone flip cover.:s13:

it's bent inwards (i.e. caved in), not outwards

i've since taken out all the cards in there.

but the bend isn't big, like 1-2mm sunken in the middle. i used my thumbs and pulled at the sides to straighten it out slightly

Currently Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 6 Pro 3/32GB are selling at 185.
Which is a better deal?

Depends on what you want in a phone? Go for Redmi 6 Pro if you want Notch design and dedicated memory slot. Redmi Note 5 for quick charge 2.0 and better processor.

Any other methods ? Can I ask the seller to remove this device from his google account or something ? Cos I don’t want to trouble the seller to come all the way to meet me again just for this simple issue.

Not sure why I didnt encounter such issues when I bought used google pixel and OnePlus devices before. So far only Xiaomi has such issue.

Thanks bro. Seller was kind enough to meet up tomorrow and key in his google account and password in order for me to proceed with the setup.
As mentioned this is the first time I encountered this issue on android.

Bought pixel 2XL and oneplus 5, 5T previously never had such issues....

When the phone was handed to me, it looked like the seller has reset it cos I saw a Miui 9 screen....next time I buy Xiaomi better set up on the spot before deal

I did factory reset a few times but upon setup it still prompts me with the same “verify account” message

Bought from overseas?
This is why I rather pay a bit more to get a brand new set with local warranty from the usual shops. Who knows whether the overseas seller will ship a returned set with problems and pass the problems to the next customer.
