Is the 55" xiaomi tv good? Any problems?

Where selling good price with local warranty?
If the local warranty mean Xiaomi local warranty, then probably Courts is selling at a good price at $579 with local 2y warranty.

Hello everyone,

I am interested to buy this tv for my master bedroom... but before I pull the trigger, got a few questions if someone would be so kind to help answer:

1. This tv comes with Bluetooth 4.2 - does it support Bluetooth keyboard and mouse? How about using an USB dongle? (There are 3 USB 2.0 ports)

2. The tv comes with Chromecast built-in. What does this mean? I don't quite understand Chromecast. I usually use Miracast where I screen mirror my phone's or tablet's screen to the tv. Does Chromecast work only for specific apps? Or would it work with all apps on my phone like Miracast does?

3. How is the lag like when browsing the tv user interface and launching apps like YouTube etc? Does it lag badly?

4. Internet connection for this tv would be solely through wifi only in my situation. This tv has dual band wifi access - how is the speed like? Fast enough to stream full HD videos? Is the wifi connection generally stable? There should be direct line of sight between my access point (Linksys EA8100) and the tv. I'm on 1 GBps Starhub fibre broadband.

5. This is a 4K tv, how is the image quality when viewing free to air channels like Channelnewsasia, etc? How about 1080p videos? Any upscaling done by the tv's media player?

6. Anyone used the USB ports to playback videos? Any limitations to formats? I use mainly MP4s and MKVs... if MP4, I use .srt subtitles - are subtitles supported? Would Chinese characters be supported as well?

EDIT:
7. Buy from Mijia Roborock Official Store or from MiniHelpersSG is better? Is the Mijia store actually Xiaomi itself? Or is it just an official reseller like MiniHelpersSG?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated!

Bought the 65" from Mijia and 55" from Minihelpers. Delivered at the same time. Delivery guy said pickup from 1 store only. I believed under one owner.

1.usb dongle keyboard mouse works but not all apps support. I dont have bt to test.

2. Chromecast only works with apps that adopt it. (Netflix youtube etc) you can also use chrome browser on windows to mirror screen. You CANNOT extend screen afaik

3. Interface feels snappy enough esp compared to the mibox my parents have (faster than mi box bu abit)

4. Internet access 5ghz seems fast enough. I can watch 4k youtube and 4k hdr netflix with no buffering. You exp may vary tho.

5. Ota channels look okay.

I dont think it does upscaling and honestly i dont want it to.

You need to go to custom profile and select it. After you set it, go to custom again will give you option to change brightness

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Why don't you want upscaling? If your video is 1080p doesn't the tv upscale to 4k to fit the screen? I thought it's automatically done? That's why I ask about 1080i or lower resolution cos if the stretching or upscaling (not sure about the terminologies) is poor, the image will be bad right?

I rather have a good 1080 image than a poorly upscaled 4k one. If you really want good upscaling it might mean that it needs a beefier processor or a secondary one which drives up the cost.

So for budget sets i rather it do no processing whatsoever. If you're interested. The new nvidia shield or lg tv (so i heard) have the best upscaling

Upscaling = trying to add details to a lower res image

If you mean how it fits on tv it has no problem doing so

Non 4k resolution will be upscaled on 4k tv. Either the TV or the external device will do it.

Oh... I really can't imagine how a 1080p source plays back on a 4k screen... would there be black borders for the pixels not used? Cos stretching the image to fit the screen would involve the tv adding generated pixels to fill the screen? Sorry... I can't understand it...

Anyway Minihelpers said that Bluetooth keyboard and mouse works. So that's a plus point.

Now don't know if should buy during 10.10 or 11.11... historically any difference in terms of discounts or prices on Qoo10? Anyone knows?

hmmm why will there be black borders for the pixels?

Dont tell me you nv use a mobile phone or a monitor before meh?

u go youtube on your mobile phone , u can change resolution to even like 144p while your phone screen resolution should be at least 1080P if u are using modern phones. What do you see?

You should have a office monitor or laptop that is minimally 1080p. go youtube again and change the video to 720p , 480p and so on. What do you see?

That will be the answer to your question :s13:
