im a lil confused..

xiaomi yi compact dash camera (need suction mount)
xiaomi yi mini dash camera
xiaomi yi smart dash camera gray ((need suction mount))
which is the best?

i'm currently using xiaoyi dash cam. I believe the one im using now is the same as your 3rd option.

For this generation, there's 2 types:
1) 130 deg viewing angle , available in grey and gold
2) 110 deg viewing angle, available in black only.

so you have to take note the specs and colour.

for the 130deg, i place it behind the rear view mirror. Able to record the full front window( can see from 1 end to another). Am driving Lancer GLX.

This model have the Lane departure warning. Basically if you go out of lane, it will let you know. It's a no-frills camera. good for normal usage. Do note that there's no parking mode. Can just pull out the USB plug and insert into a powerbank if you need parking mode.

Sony has this charger which allow charging and supplying current to the device. Not sure if this battery capacity can make Yi cam records 24 hour non stop.

Proposing solution will be:
1) Tap power source from fuse -> power bank -> Yi -> power bank -> Yi cam

2) Anker solar power -> power bank -> Yi cam
(Assuming vehicle is parked in outdoor carpark)

Xiaomi powerbank is able to do that too.

But... there is no point to make it record overnight or if you're leaving the car for an extended period of time.

Let's say the MicroSD retains 3 hours of recording. You park your car at 11pm and collision occurred at 2am. At 7am, you discovered the damage but the footage was already long overwritten.

I recommend against using powerbank, regardless of the brand. They can overheat and burn when in car temperature hits high 30's, especially in our environment.

The dashcam should be able to lock the impact video and prevent it from overwriting.
