Anyone been there before? I only know Urumqi. But not other parts of it. Any recommendations of some good places to visit?

One of my favourite provinces... although I went more than 10yrs ago, so alot of things have changed, eg in Kashgar, the old town has been partially demolished by the Chinese government and the famous Sunday market is sort of downsized etc
Still, I think there's plenty to offer. Below are some of my highlights, but check your favourite guidebook for alot more other attractions like Turpan etc

In North Xinjiang,

Please check what weather to expect in Xinjiang in December before going in Dec.

Best period is either summer or autumn.
Winter temperatures can be quite extreme.

If you follow tour, tour agent normally goes Northern XinJiang.

June is their summer time, peak time.

Didn't manage to fulfil my trip as I was hospitalised for adult onset asthma, ruined my plan

Would be planning again for next year or the year after next as per my health permitted.

Sorry to hear about. Take it easy and you can always plan again when you’re feeling better.
I have not decided yet as not many people travel during the winter period , furthermore, travelling solo to Xinjiang isn’t very popular.
