Initially updated Silverlight to 5.1.3.... realised xinmsn does not play on SAFARI and Chrome but works fine on Firefox.

Googled and even attempted uninstall and re-install Silverlight but to no avail.

Checked and unchecked Security Settings, Allowed Plug-ins etc but to no avail. Previously worked fine.

Been using Elmedia to download these catchup videos but now unable to work anymore. Emailed to its support and asked me to uninstall and install once more - but of no help.

Some further details - SAFARI 8.0; Silverlight is 5.1.3...

But what I realised is when i have SAFARI opened and under its Preferences/Security/Internet Plug-ins/Website Settings/Silverlight does not have a single configured website.

Anyone could kindly assist? Thank you.

Please try the following and response back the results.

1. Test with another user account, create a test one if none present
2. Start your computer in safe mode and test: Hold down left shift key on startup

Can you also explain what happens when it stopped working? Any error message?

(1) - have yet to receive the email on the registration of the new account but will update once I have it.

(2) - borrowed a MBA 2013 which did not have any Silverlight installed, able to playback xinmsn on both Firefox and Safari with no issues.
Installed Elmedia and it did not work with xinmsn, double checked Firefox and Safari was working prior download and installation of Silverlight 5.
Upon installation, Safari stopped playing xinmsn and Elmedia still does not work. Only Firefox is able to.

Maybe I wasn't clear on my previous post - when I said create a new user account, it's the user account on your Mac, System Preference -> Users & Groups

Seems you have isolated the issue yourself there. Looks like a conflict between Elmedia and Silverlight.

Best for you to reach Elmedia support for solution.

I found the following - Known Issues*|*Eltima Software – Knowledge Base

Problems that may arise while downloading online movies:

Some SWF files don’t load external Flash movies correctly, and, as the result, cannot be played properly. This may occur if a SWF file requests external FLV using FLVPlayblack function call. For some reason this call bypasses the required procedures, and thus Elmedia Player cannot trace loading, and some external resources may be omitted.
At this moment, Elmedia Player supports capture of files transferred only over “plain” RTMP. Capture of files transferred over RTMP Tunneled (RTMPT), RTMP Secure (RTMPS) and RTMP Encrypted (RTMPE) is not currently supported by Elmedia Player.
Currently, Microsoft Silverlight streaming video cannot be captured by Elmedia Player.
Currently Elmedia Player does not feature downloading of live RTMP stream (e.g. stream from web cameras, etc.)
At the moment, Elmedia Player PRO does not support download of MPEG Transport Stream videos.
WebKit engine (which is used by Elmedia Player for correct work of some of its options, like rendering web pages), provided in Mac OS X package of version 10.4.X and less, does not support all HTML5 features. Due to this fact, web pages that contain HTML5 elements in their code, will be displayed incorrectly by Elmedia Player, including video on those pages. Therefore, media files may not be available for downloading via Elmedia Player. However, this problem cannot be an applicable reason for a refund, as it is not Elmedia Player fault, but a question of HTML5 support provided by older Mac OS X versions.
Sometimes files duplication is possible in the list of files which are available for downloading with Elmedia Player. It happens when files have additional parameters in their names (like the date or time). As these parameters change, the links change correspondingly and Elmedia Player treats them like the links to different files, though practically the file is always the same.

I just update the singtel proxies accordingly under System Preferences/Network etc.

At the same time, just make sure the Java is updated, I may be wrong but there was a prompt in seeking to install Java 2014-001 too.

Your java is updated? Google for "JavaForOSX2014-001" and have it downloaded and installed.

I have this message for the above mentioned file to be installed on one of those multiple trial sessions when i did the uninstallation and reinstallation etc.

Yes, Firefox works better for Silverlight.
