My 5 III finally has the dreaded green line appearing on my screen :(

Does anyone knows if Sony svc centre will still fix this issue for out of warranty set? (Mine was bought in early 2022).

Is yours an overseas handset? Sony replaced the screens of both my Xperia 5ii and 5iii free of charge. They had green lines, both were out of warranty. The customer service agent said they do the screen replacement free of charge for local handsets only. I sent them in May this year. The turnaround was a week or less.

waaa.... this is so inconsistent... mine is a local set bought from their online store...

I suppose you brought them to the Somerset service centre?

Yes, Somerset service centre.

Two years ago, when my 5ii had green lines slightly more than a year of use, they quoted me a couple of hundred dollars to replace screen. I rejected.

Think you should go Somerset give it another try. It's free anyway.

Thanks for the advice, perhaps I should try it again. Else it's so wasted, the phone is still working well except for the green line which is blocking some of my views sigh.....

I must thank you very much for the advice donpen.

I went back Sony centre again, with the same lady (yes same!) attending to me but apparently she forgotten my case. So she took the phone from me, saying that if any cost incurred, they will inform me first.

A week later today, I was ask to collect and they change my screen FOC!

If only they did it first earlier, I will not have purchase 10 VI last month and now I dunno whether to switch back to my 5 III or not
