The red one looks nice but I have a few qns:

1. Does Sony Xperia SP screen look "washed out"?
2. Does it have good viewing angle?
3. Does it gets hot when playing games and/or surfing web?
4. Is there any issue connecting with wi-fi?

Thanks in advance!

1&2: It is inferior when put beside saturated screens like htc one, butterfly, galaxy s4, even mega 6.3
3. I'd say still tolerable like other modern smartphones
4. WIFI reception is weaker than the samsung S3 comparatively.

Thank you for lightning fast reply!

But for $38 should I be complaining? :s13:

The flaws are subjective to every person. :) Why don't you try out the real sets at sony mobile showrooms before deciding whether it's worth $38 + 2yr bond?

3. Not as hot as my former Arc S after playing Angry Birds
4. No WiFi prob so far as I'm on stock fibre bb Huawei router...tried WirelessSG also ok...

LCD is ok but viewing angle sux big time, tilt abit and it become greyish.

no issue with the heating up problem, probably same as every other phone.

Wifi signal is weak, sometimes lose connection, unless ur router is in the same room.

hey guys i bought a xperia SP and i cannot turn the phone to silent. I use the stock app that comes with the phone but still on silent mode i get notification sounds for whatsapp, texts, emails and calls etc. I have to bring the volume down manually from the volume control button. So when i want to put the phone to the loud mode, i have to again manually increase the volume. The silent mode stock app has no effect, tried downloading the silent mode widget -no effect. Tried putting it to silent from the notification bar nothing too.

Hope someone can help me out please. I have looked at Xperia Z thread and some people have the same issue but i could find what happened and how they resolved their issue.

Thanks !

Not acceptable of course, but when u send to service center they will note down on the repair sheet if it is scratch before sending in on SP or the frame etc... and you have to sign before they take it....

So the point is .. if the scratch is already pre-repair symptoms you have no case =:p

I have the need to keep my phone in silent mode during certain times of the day, example when i go to bed, before meeting, before watching movie, etc. I didnt use any app but manually turn up and down the call alert volume. It isn't really difficult or troublesome for a long term mode changer like me. :s13: The talktime volume or mp3 player volume won't be affect when i am in silent mode.

As for notification sounds from whatsapp, you need to check the app setting to turn off notification sounds. I don't think i get any sms notification sounds when i am in silent mode and i did not do anything to adjust this.

Btw, when silent mode is turned on, all audible signals are turned off. No need to enter each app to turn their notification sounds off.

I've sold off my SP liao due to the screen. It making my head dizzy due to the inferior TFT screen. Guy, pls try to get ips screen. No more sony xperia product for me till they up their screen and after sale support service.
Give extra 3 mths warranty, so issit must take one mth to repair?

Fix Wifi issue in Xperia SP

For those having issues, change setting in your router:

1. Set 802.11 Mode as "11n only"
2. Fix next Channel Width as "40MHz"

It works like a charm for me.

I didn't face any problems with the touchscreen, n call volume was adequate.

My power button is not at a very good state though, need to use more force to depress it.

ic ic, do you face low volume when making calls or any probs with the touchscreen?

Touchscreen seems to be a common issue cos it is an issue of sensitivity resulted from the firmware.

Low volume may be due to your own phone which is buggy. If it is so soft, then replace one and check if it hit 66dB as mentioned in the manual.
